Hey, you remember how Rarebit said background music was manually assigned according to game space? Well why not use one of the unused mission secondary tracks for datamine like he used Niobe mission prmary for the white halls?
Those things were always intended for kinda higher drama/tension moments (why i always said they should be used for critical missions and the primaries used for standards but hey) so they'd fit the FFAPVP setting pretty well i'd say.
Thoughts?

There's one that isn't used? I thought the only one left was the Niobe one you mentioned. What's the track name?
But yeah, the current Datamine track is getting on my nerves. I can't figure out of it's Westview or the music that plays in Exile hideouts. Either way, I've heard it too much.

Music during combat = you can't hear when someone is jumping near you or where the action is at. So I really don't have a preference, since It's turned off for me personally. That being said, datamine is all about hostility and danger, so it would be appropriate.

Each org has a primary mission track (the ones currently being used), a secondary mission track (not currently being used) and a combat track.
So, with Niobe mission primary being used in the white halls, thats 6 tracks being unused atm (Machine Secondary, Zion Secondary, Merv Secondary, Niobe Secondary, Niobe Combat and Neutral Secondary).
Edit 1: Actually, Niobe Combat should be being used for the elite commando quest when you fight in there (anyone confirm?)
Edit 2: As for where they come from, they're accessible in their split form in your "\The Matrix Online\Resource\Music\" folder while the compiled versions are hosted at MxOArchive.
Edit 3: Just realised MxOArchive's page is down so i've uploaded them myself for y'all:
Mach Secondary
Merv Secondary
Niobe Secondary
Neutral Secondary
Zion Secondary

I'd agree with Aquatium, my music is turned off.. if I want some I'll dial up a radio station... however a track that promotes a feeling of suspense and danger would be appropriate..

As for a personal suggestion, just listening to Merv Secondary now and it's pretty dang funky and danger inducing >=)

I thought I've heard at least two of the Niobe tracks in the Commando Hallways, not just one. I could be wrong, though, and I'm not at home to check.

For some odd reason the only time music ever plays for me is right after I jack in or after I open and close a Scanline receiver or the Sentinel window. Been like that for years now. I wish the music did still play.

I usually have the music off too but I do turn it on now and then! It helps to get you in the Matrix mood! I love the loading area music and international district music when you are outside, but not so much the other districts Oh and the Merv music fits perfectly with the Merv organization I think! :)

Yeah, I normally leave my game music off due to vent/music but if ever you feel like getting into the Matrix mood the music is great for that. I like the Richland music, sets the right atmosphere for the slums

When I'm missioning I stick on that stream of Matrix music, it's not the same having no sudden change in music when entering combat but I've heard the game's music tracks so many times....

Procurator- The datamine music is the same as the music you here when you go inside a building Downtown, and maybe in Westview also. Personally, I don't really listen to any music in game most times, just to help reduce m,y lag a little. But i actually like the music choice in DM. It strikes me as kind of quietly tense, which is how DM is most of the time these days. Like there is noone around, but you might get jacked at any minute. Anyway just my two sense.

Data Mine exterior music = Westview indoors music. Data Mine interior music = I think the Downtown indoors music, but I'd have to check. I usually turn the sound down when I'm fighting things since the gunshots sometimes hurt my ears (I have super-sensitive hearing, plus sensory filtering issues, so I have to make some comprimises to keep from getting overstimulated)
