I just get this feeling from Carlyne that I can't trust anything that he says. He's certainly not telling the whole story. Can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

Indeed. Though as with Halborn, what reason would he have to do so, when they feel that each and every need within the capabilities of the majority of Operatives active in the Simulation is being met, without?

.... Am I the only one who thinks his line about "Its like a little piece of history's been polished up and set aside in a jar for safekeeping, isn't it"

Meant something other then our perpetual 1999 bit?

I'm not sure, but there are things about it that just...ring odd to me.

Lets put some facts/ideas out there together.

Fact: The "Intruders" are freeborn humans.

Fact: Their now in the simulation.

Fact: Their RSI's show up in wire-frame mode because the base coding of them is DIFFERENT then the simulations.

Idea: There is human civilization outside the control of the Machines, outside of Zion. [by civilization, I mean cities etc]

Idea: Its been there for quite a while.

Idea: There is still a Truce, albeit not with us human population in the simulation.

Idea: Thats why they don't simply steamroll whatever location the Intruders physical form is [the one that isn't dead].

Idea: If any of the "ideas" are true. /whoa

I agree - there's something outside of what we know.

Literally.

That's part of what we've been saying as a basis for Abaddon. It started to become apparent that at some point, people would be outside of what we know of in Zion and the Machine city. The entire Earth wasn't destroyed, and the entire human population wasn't wiped out, necessarily. That maybe, just maybe, there are other places that we've only seen our own little microcosm and have been blind to everything else. Matriculated and The Miller's Tale speak to this idea as well.

Even though it's correct, and is extremely rare in the English language, the usage of two same exact words one after the other without any punctuation in the middle just drives me up the wall. >_>

Are we sure it would only be a truce? They amount of power they have and the machines inability to stop them, in terms of stopping them in the real, seems odd. Even if their was a truce, this kind of activity would obviously be unaceptable. Halborn has killed bluepills after all. No, it almost as if they have a similar degree of power in the real as well. I don't know why or how. Similarly, maybe this group of freeborns is fairly small in population, and are therefore much harder to find. There certainly are ways of not being found.

Even if Carlyne does seem too nice to be real, I think he is winning me over!! SMILEY

Carlyne is a smoother version of Halborn.  He knows he has to play his cards right to get what he wants.  Halborn has established himself to be rough around the edges and has made a distinct impression on everyone in the matrix.  We have to see how this plays out to find what his true motives are.

The undercurrents going on within this chapter are fascinating to say the least.  I can't wait to see them surface... SMILEY

All I am saying without divulging too much of my informants information, is that they have power over the Machines.

Consider it a free sample of the active Information Trade in the matrix.
