actually because all profit from this game goes into games like everquest and so forth, but before we get new Districts, the other ones need to be utilized.

everyone agree's that DT is much much better looking than richland, yet nobody ever is there on a regular basis

People are saying this all the time, but is it a fact or speculation? Where has it been stated?

And no, not everyone agrees that Downtown is better looking than Richland. In my opinion, they are equal in quality. And I'm not the only one - look for the "Who likes the Barrens?" thread somewhere below.

Again, my original question - what's the reason why everybody wants new districts?

Just to throw out a question: what exactly is the reason why you (in a collective sense) want to have new districts?

Do you think the current city is too small (for you alone) and want it to be bigger or do you feel unsatisfied with only a few red spots on the grand green map being filled, and want to see more of the city? Would you like new districts to expand the city's diversity?
That's my motives, at least. And filling out the current districts doesn't help this.

Or is it the playable content, which you've run out of, and hope to get more of with new districts? Rarebit's right, filling out the current ones is the way to go. This can include both building on the current city content and including new elements.
Except you want new, fresh neighborhoods with their own backgrounds?

Or do you feel the city's just too small for the player base, and needs expansion in order to give you and everyone more air to breathe? ROFL. That's also what those players who only value the community and player interaction about an MMO think.
Except there are the above aspects, too.

I dont think that the current megacity is too small, but a greater range of diversity would be great.
I walk through the city and think it all kinda looks the same. It would be nice if there was a shopping mall with more collectors and things to do, a freeway with special missions or maybe rewards for collecting things in the freeway(seeing as it is the most dangerous part of the matrix)

Maybe i'm dreaming a bit but currently I see no reason to go and collect the gang emblems because the reward are frankly rubbish. The only things worth doing are archives, binary boy and pandoras box.

If there was a new district built it would have to have something special about it that make people want to go there. Luggables maybe?

I am, but I get your point. The game needs something other than collectors or the mission system to intice a Downtown migration. Like give a neighborhood instant access to all players regardless of level and eliminate the Agent Meter, then run a subway to that neighborhood from, say, Uriah as a part of a District/Subway tutorial.

But you do agree that all of this content could be aswell implented into the world as it is right now, without a need for city expansions?
I mean, that's what the talk is about: filling the current city up with content before creating new ones.

(I've read your other points, I just react to this one in particular)

They are trying to push people into DT with the PB's but once they are done the box, it is off to Richland to regroup!

I would prefer people to diverse from Mara/Uriah/Tabor and venture out, baring in mind this is the only MMO I have played this is the biggest game space I have experienced and nearly every time I jack in I encounter something new in the scenery.  I am not saying no to new districts but one step at a time.  (I remember the 'BlueSky' event most of the parks were being attacked but only Tabor was red.)

When/if we get a new district we must open a old wound, do they raise the max level?  New districsts mean lots of new HL's and access nodes...

unfortunately that would mean yes, which would make the overall answer no, mainly because it's too much work to raise the level cap, it would have to be in a major expansion which is impossible.

Impossible is not a word I like to use, I would like to think they would consider it at some point but first we must diverse outwards, we may not want to look at it like this but we a hindering game development.

It is a horrible ring of fate, everyone stands about complaining about the lack of content, they won't add the content as there is no evidence it will be worth the man hours to create.  Sony may have to make a big risk soon and put slightly more money into it, if it pays off GREAT, if not...

A new district with more movie locations and a story line to close some doors could work (i.e Morpheus dead or alive?) yes it sounds drastic but not finishing things puts people off.  I love the archive missions and find it a good way for brand new players to catch up so it is friendly for old and new players alike so the potential is there!

((Mabey if they make a 4th movie people will remember there is a MMO to play?))

Note: The movie is highly unlikely I know but it would be cool if they picked some characters from the game to appear in the movie?

Why drastic? This is what the current plot is about. But the answer might aswell come in four chapters or something - you don't have to answer questions immediately, that's often the thrill.

The new district's "storyline" (probably not what you meant) will rather be a static portrayal of its gangs and underground Exiles.

As for movie locations, I'm not terribly enthusiastic about those... but would be a possibility, I guess.

With the Movie locations, I was thinking it would incourage new players to join, we have come to love Mega City as it is which is the main problem, if most of us are happy with the size of the space now why add?

My own reasons to wish new districts summarized.

My lack of interest in movie locations comes from their lack of authenticity.

This is quite a discussion- i should check this board more often. I think that we do all want new districts to be added because we all want to see the game progress and expand. I think the main issue is whether we want the new districts NOW or not. While a new district would be very cool and fun and I do hope it's something that will EVENTUALLY be included in the game I feel (though to be fair I am only a middle level player) that there is enough in the city to excite- you've just got to look for it. I actually enjoy strolling around the back alleys, checking the signs in the shop windows and dancing in clubs as well as the usual fighting and missioning. With the Archives, White halls and PB I think there is enough to satisfy a player, certainly enough to satisfy me, but I do also think it's important that the game keeps adding new things to make us feel excited when we jack in.

As for the Downtown issue, the reason I don't hang out there (apart from Agents) is that it's too darn big!!! Richland is small and flat so you can just wander around and find people in a park or street corner. Whereas in downtown, you can't see past the skyscrapers and there's so much space to wander around that it's not as easy to just find people to talk to. I think we'd have to get the community to decide on a new Mara C to get people downtown.

If we do get new districts I hope they put in the airport from Enter the Matrix or the sewers.

I would say either one more district, or revamp the current ones...add new stuff...Make westview more appealing. IF they could make it posible to watch movies in brown stadium or in other tv screen locations....that would be awesome.
