Maybe this would only interest me, but I think it would be nice to have such a command.  Like "/viewdetails [name]" or something like that.

This would be a great way to view the Details of storyline characters who are dead (such as the Scanner, or practically all of the Unlimit lieutenants).  Or characters that have rarely appeared so far (such as the Messenger, who has been used about twice so far).

Maybe it could also work on NPCs.  There are several Exile gang member ranks that were removed from the game when the Richland/Westview reflow came.  Those ranks occasionally appear during live events, but it would be nice to view them without having to wait for such an occasion.

Yeah great idea. I think its been suggested before tho.

Something like /details for your own details and /details [name] for everyone else.

I totally agree. This could aply on any NPC regardless the organization.

Nice idea.

I think this is technically not possible. The details of characters can only be seen if you're within a certain range. I don't know exactly how it works but sometimes I have someone's details open and when the person uses a hardline, the window closes. So I assume it has to do with the range of /who, and that you thus can only view the details of someone who's not only online but also within a certain range.

Probably to have less lag because it'll obviously saves us bandwith if we don't load everything. So if we could view the details of offline players we'd have to load so incredibly many data that the system requirements of MXO need to be cranked up. SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />

Although this is merely an assumption, I don't think I am that far off how it all works. It makes sense to load only the data that a player can access within his/hers viewing range and not on the other side of the game to save bandwith and RAM space.

If you check, you'll see it's not a matter of characters going out of range, it's just that the window will close if you move more than a certain amount.  If you stand close to someone and view the details you can move until they disappear, stop, and bring up that persons details again.  Rinse-Repeat.

Your background/details are stored in your character file like any other piece of information.  It may be that we can only view the details of player's who's characters who have been loaded and are in use by the game but it should be possible to view elements of the files of offline characters too since none of the files are actually moved in the process.

Well then, how about this?:

Some kind of library or newspaper spread on the city so you can go check the profiles you'd like. It would be like reading the Sentinel but instead of reading [very old] news, you'd read some profiles.
