Ok, this should not be happening. I've just put together an entirely new system, far superior to my previous one in all aspects. I'm now using a 8800GTX graphics card, outside, the game runs great. But when i go indoors, it becomes disgustingly laggy, i can barely move while i'm running around doing missions, this is the single most powerfull graphics card ever created, and i can't even do a mission in MXO without serious graphics lag. My old system with a 6660GT did far better than this. Has anyone else here ran accross this problem, is there a fix? If not, there needs to be one.

You're the second person I've seen who claims that the 8800 runs poorly in The Matrix Online while only indoors.  Although two points of data doesn't substantiate a complete conclusion, I am inclined to say that it's likely there may be an incompatibility with something in the nVidia drivers and the game.

Have you tried lowering all the quality settings in the nVidia control panel and/or the game?  I know that's counter-intuitive for that particular video card, but I'm only trying to track down any possible causes.

I'm sure there's been 10 or so threads about this in here. It's a problem with the drivers.

Did the lowest settings in both in-game, and in the nvidia control panel, latest drivers, same issue. Works great outside, unbearable laggy inside. Did a dual install with vista on another partition, no indoor lag, however i get the standard lighting and shadow on forehead issue that everyone else gets with vista.

It's very frustering, considering how my primary reason for putting this new system together was for a lag free MXO experience, and to assist with better fraps movie filming. It has ended up doing the opposite if i can't play in-doors.

I'll beawaiting to see some MXO-vids from you Next yr when Vista comes out with a patch to fix the shader.. /endsarcasim

Sorry to hear that nothing will fix the situation atm.  Spending that kinda money, one would assume that they their end product would be working up to standards (vista).  Its been out for awhile now.. overseas that is.

I am having the exact same problem. 8800GTX card, 3Gb of Ram. When outdoors, MxO has never looked better. As soon as I step inside, the game goes all lagged and choppy.

i know what card i will NOT be getting.

update your drivers, if you havent already.. and if that doesnt work, look around for 3rd party drivers. if you used ATI i could recommend some, but nada for nvidia.. omega puts out stuff for ati and used to for nvidia, maybe check with them.. and perhaps the warcat drivers for ati mention nvidia. /shrug

nVidia has some pretty poor drivers as of yet. Im waiting for the ATI launch although if the rumors are true and the XTX isnt being released until at least H2 of 07 I dont know what im going to do.

Thanks!! I'll check those out for sure.

Apparently this is a known issue with 8800 cards. So all we can do is wait for updated drivers. SMILEY

Hi everyone,

I think I may have found a viable alternative to this problem that you can try, at least until evga release another driver update.

I went into my settings and noticed that my indoor distance slider was actually higher than my outdoor distance slider while on max settings for Ram and Detail. When I slid the indoor distance down lower, I noticed that it automatically dropped my Ram Usage from
High to Medium, but left the Details on high.

That seems to have worked. My indoor frame rates are much smoother now, still some minor choppiness now and then, but no where near as severe as before. Give it a shot, all you 8800 users, and let us know if it works for you too!

I tried that, didn't do much for me.

I've posted on several different nvidia forums, and no one has bothered to respond to this issue. A new driver just came out as well, (165.01) and it did not fix the issue. Nothing i do seems to correct the problem. TSRJason, it would be good if the developers could get their hands on an 8800 series card, and work with the code to fix this problem. Seeing as how Nvidia probably doesn't see the matrix online as a huge priority (And the game was sponsored by ATI..) I doubt they will have a fix for this. But unless a fix is made, the game is pretty much unplayable.

Oh god *CENSORED* it! I just found out about the new drivers and was so hopful that this would fix this problem. I too haven't been able to set foot indoors ingame since I upgraded to the 8800GTX. So sad that such a powerful card could stumble on a game such as this...

Somone fix it, I wanna come back... >.<

I know how you guys feel.

Currently, I'm playing through the pain. I find the indoor lag is worse when the mission zone contains lotsa doors. The frame rate seems to take the nastiest hits whenever you face a door (whether the door is on the other side of a wall, etc.). In smaller mission areas with fewer doors, the lag isn't as bad. At least, in my opinion.
