I would definately love to have this issue fixed but I am lacking for a place to start building a repro case for this. So If you would like to help narrow this issue down please give details as to when you are finding that Find Weakness fails to activate properly.

  • Is it not activating when just clicked on on the hotbar or Action panel?
  • When its activated via a macro using the /invoke or /use commands?
  • After some other ability or item was used?

Its all in the details. Squashing this bug would be a good step forward.

Some additional information I saw from the other thread.

  • The ability fails more regularly on one server than another?

Any relevant information about the circumstances around Find Weakness not activating may be important.

Please post only details pertaining to the top.

When the Spy style refreshes, even if you don't change from another style. Oftentimes it immediately goes on after the timer fills up, then turns off when the next move is activated. It hasn't worked properly in so long I can't remember the last time I actually loaded a Spy tree.

Unfortunately though I have tried much experimentation this weekend I cannot see any patterns. Generally I IL then run findweakness in parallel to using a thrown attack in all cases the activation bar shows the progress as expected....the result however is mixed on Vector it works about 66% of the time, for the remainder very very rarely you get a message saying you failed to find weakness etc but mostly there is no message and no evidence of any buff being applied... the cool down timer on the ability indicates it was used so you are left high and dry till it recharges etc.

Subjectively my alt on Recursion has a lower sucess rate with find weakness, I would guesstimate it works significantly less than 50% of the time. Obviously as has been noted my Vector rsi has had findweakness from its earliest time whereas my alt has one taken from a vendor in the last few months..... are there two forms of findweakness out there? and what is the anticipated failure rate of the ability all things being equal?

Apparently there are two versions of Find Weakness. One version that some of us veteran Spies have kept as an ability we had to level up before CR2. The other, a newer version that is broken.
A pre-cr2 Find Weakness will work fairly well for the most part, so long as it was fully leveled back in the old days.

Tytanya, 66% success rate on Vector would indicate to me that you leveled Find Weakness ability to around lvl 30 or so. You can check by doing a /savelo on your spy loadout and look for FindWeaknessAbility in the Profiles folder.

When playing around with this I would ask that you make sure that your Find Weakness is leveled completely for you current level. I realize that some may have it at varying degrees but this is to ensure that you are using a fully leveled ability.

A question though. Do you have failures to activate only in Interlock? or do you experience it out of interlock also?

The reason I ask is because some ability can be interupted by taking damage (which is the reason for Concentration to some what off set this chance).

And if you try to use Find Weakness out of Interlock while not taking fire for enemies does it ever fail?

The problem is, after CR2 introduced the current versions of find weakness you cannot level them up any longer. When you buy it at an operative Vendor it will not have a level associated with it <ability name="FindWeaknessAbility" />  or if you code it, its level will be level 1 <ability name="FindWeaknessAbility" level="1" /> .

The two current versions of Find weakness in question will fail at any place, any time, whether it be in interlock or out of interlock, while using any tactic. When it fails it will use up your Inner Strength, and start a cool down timer for reuse but it will have not been applied as the 20 second damage buff that should have been.

The current versions cannot be leveled.  I believe it was changed to be this way so that it was like the other low level damage buffs.

The current Find Weakness has a bug where has to make a successful roll to hit yourself (8o) before it will actually work. This was legacy code from CR1. Dracomet has already fixed this for update 50.

The ability scales based on your character level, and is not levellable itself. This is by design.

Glad to see this one fixed.  BTW, is it supposed to break sneak?  Seems like it would be most useful right before a sneak attack.

*AHEM* Now that we got that taken care of, how about we make it so that sneak doesnt break randomly for no reason on the sniper tree?
