Hey, recently when I tried to put on a coat the surroundings around my character lose all their detail (IE trees lose their foliage, bricks become smooth, and lighting goes a tiny bit wierd), and my inventory screen goes grey with different colored squares where items just happen to rest (But no items can be seen at all except for the fact that the squares holding items are a different color except for grey).  I have tried this in multiple screen sizes, in windowed and non-windowed mode, all the detail levels, and on various ram levels as well.  Keeps happening no matter what.  I came back into the game months ago on this laptop to say hi to buddies but  never ran into these problems.  Just happening now and I am assuming that it has to do with some sort of patch interacting with maybe vista, or the Nvidia cards.  Hopefully someone has heard of this issue and knows of a way to help me wear coats, cause it would suck to not be all stylish. lol.

That would be Vista, a well known issue but sadly there is no known cure currently.  Nividia seems to be fixed after the recent drivers were released.

You'll just have to look for other stylish attire until it is fixed SMILEY
One of the worst things with this bug, it also happens when other people are in these clothes, there has been a few times when I have been asked to remove something so someone nearby can see.

Yea - this happens to me as well.  It's mostly with shirts - as far as I can tell - so if you wear a closed coat (one where you cannot see the shirt underneath) - the problem isn't as bad.  It still occurs with nivida 8600 GT with the latest WHQL drivers (175.19_geforce_winvista_32bit_english_whql) runing 1300x768 high detail high memory.

I've tried all kinds of different video settings (textures high, low medium - shadows on/off, anti-aliasing, v-sync) - nothing can fix the problem...

Yea this is a bummer. I liked the coats from when I was able to put them on in the old days. I guess I will have to put up with non-coat outfits till some dev figures out the magic spell to get it working properly. lol

I had the same problem.

This might sound crazy, but change your shoes.

I switched from shoes to boots and the problem went away.

That's crazy enough to work!

Yes, this problem does stink - I'm hoping that as Vista becomes less and less alien, problems like this can clear up a bit.

When we find pieces of clothing (whether they are coats or the underlying shirts or shoes) that causes this problem - should we be /bug in game or do you all have a good idea of the pieces of clothing / hardware that are causing problems?

Thanks!

The dev team should have a list, but I'm doubting that it's in any way complete.  Submitting a /bug report when finding insanity clothing always helps.

Hey all.

New player & Vista user (for my sins, it seems). Been getting serious glitches with the same criteria: Baglady and whatever-her-name-is near the start of the tutorial (sorry... I'm not au fait with the locations just yet.. she's near the club); both wearing long coats, both causing UI-outs within a certain range. Not to mention some rendering issues generally out-and-about.

I'm also a 8800GTXer...so does that mean that: 8800+Vista= LOL@U? SMILEY
