After nearly 2 years, I'm back again...

Wow have things changed! I'm as old as they get it seems, an old beta player who witnessed probably the most exciting end to a beta ever! Thats what made me fall in love with this game. 4 months or so after release, It just felt stagnant. So I left.

Now I'm back again! I'm sure all my old friends are gone and now it's time to make new ones! SMILEY

I honestly need someone to help me in Recursion. I am completely lost and would love to maybe have someone help me get up to speed. I have tried reading some of the posts of old returning redpills but they seem to have experienced the CR 2.0 and have an easier time understanding things. As far as I can tell, the "rock, scissor, paper" element is gone. I also noticed my lack of skill since it took me more than 2 minutes to kill a level 4 mob!! (I'm 44 almost 45). So I'm MxO handicapped at the moment and would appreciate any help I can get.

At the most basic level, can someone at least explain to me:

1) What changes were made to clothing? Is my Gi totally worthless now?

2) Are level 50's just PvP'ing back and forth or has there been some end-game stuff added?

3) How are the events lately? Nothing (in any game for that matter) has come close to the end of beta for me. Hoping things have changed in here though.

Anyways, I'm dying to get back into my RSI and actually do something other than wander around Mara. Send me a msg if you catch me on Recursion! SMILEY

1) There are no longer such things as 'Dodge Ranged', 'Viral Deflection' etc. There are now awakened abilities which give you your defense against all classes.

These are:

- Hyper Dodge (Guns, known as Ballistic)
- Hyper Block (Martial Arts, known as Melee)
- Hyper Deflect (Hacks, known as Viral)
- Hyper Sense (Knives, known as Thrown)

These should be activated when faced with the relevant class, as you can't have them all running simultaneously. You can however, have 'Hyper Deflect' running alongside one of the others.

Clothing now comes with 'Resistance points', and has requisite levels for particular items. The basic premise is to wear as much resistance as you can in order to withstand damage. To simplify, if you are wearing 100 Ballistic (guns) resistance for example, a high-end special (Full Auto Redux for instance) will perhaps inflict around 2000 damage to you. If you're wearing 200+, it will be somewhere around 1000. Resistance through clothing max's out at 240. I forget if this was present during CR1, but in addition to resistance you can wear accuracy or defense bonuses (displayed as a percentage). Don't be discouraged by the fact that they are usually 2/3%, this can now be the difference in combat. You can also find clothing with other bonuses, such as root duration/healing bonus/compile skill bonus, to name but a few.

Your Gi isn't entirely useless as such, but there are far superior items in the clothing catalogue. Have a look around the marketplace and see what clothing is demanding the most money. This will give you an idea of what's popular, and for what reason. Other than that I'd advise asking around for someone to explaining things in greater detail, I'm sure you will be accommodated.
