This game looks great, except there are some spots where the textures are other-wordly and then there are some just rather bland areas. But let's go through my Ballak's FPS Gaming Pet-Peeves List of the 2:16AM Night. GO
1. Do you feel like you exist in game? i.e. You can see your legs, when you jump over a wall, do you actually feel like you're jumping over that wall. Do you see your shadow?
2. When you run straight up to a wall point blank, do you lower your weapon or just seemingly not collide with the wall. It just bugs me, like those pictures that no matter how hard to try to explain it, it just could never exist in that form.
3. Do you make noise when you crouch? (MP) Apparently in games where you don't make noise when you crouch, implies that in modded servers everyone must be ninjas/campers to win, which really dullens the game play.
4. Do the grenades actually have a reliable/realistic system in which they are not nearly impossible to throw like in Half-life 2. (accurately at least)
5. Does your gun have a slower animation when you reload with an empty clip instead of a half-empty clip?
6. Continued from 5, does you gun react differently than when reloading while having an empty clip aside from a half-empty one.
7. In Melee range, is it really *CENSORED* *CENSORED*? (Okay, come on. Anyone who's played Call of Duty can agree with me, excluding CoD4, THAT ALL OF THE GERMANS COMPLETELY DESTROY YOU IN MELEE COMBAT? I MEAN OH MY GOD. I run up, *melee* then the german sort of stumbles back, and then unleashes this barrage of wailing hits like you just cursed out Ali in some back alley.
8. (MP) Does it have a list of useless voice commands that no one uses, and if someone bothers to use, will have their team probably ignore anyways?
9. When you shoot somebody, does their body react accordingly? Alright, at this point of ragdoll technology, we should be seeing a lot more CoD4/Crysis than "Augh I died, let me play this animation that you've already seen 300 times". I mean remeber the days the moment you finished shooting something, you see that certain animation and your brain automatically says, "Yes. Dead. New Target, Blam Blam Blam."
10. Do you have a realistic inventory? Okay, tell me how exactly as Dr. Freeman, you can carry a Pistol, A Magnum, a Submachine Gun, a Pulse Rifle, Grenades, a ROCKET LAUNCHER, A shotgun, and a crossbow, oh and let's not forget somewhere in that arsenal he's got a crowbar. Let's not forget ammo or anything. You should honestly only be able to carry three guns at the most. A Handgun/Holster, A rifle, and generally a close combat weapon usually a sub machine gun. Both of which you can strap around your chest/back if needed.
11. Reali-- Okay, now in some games like Doom, I can let the BFG 9000 slide mostly because that's a completely different universe, but when I see the *CENSORED* MINI-UZI out-doing some of the other guns in CoD4, that has a mildly accurate representation of modern warfare, that's grossly out-doing it. The Uzi is *poop* in real life, the Mini version is even worse. You could be executing someone with that gun and miss.
12. Fall damage. Generally falling more than 20 feet is a little "Yeah, right."
13. Is the Ally AI crap or not?
14. Enemies choosing you over your allies. I hate to say it, but in every FPS in existance, you are the guy running around, taking 500,000 bullets, doing all the objectives, like you've just been awarded 5 Medal of Honors to through in your chest of medals that you lug around, but jesus christ. What is up with all the bad guy AI shooting at your friends who are basically bullet shields or "distractions", but the minute you stick your finger around the corner you are priority number *CENSORED* one, and it's basically whoever gets the first shot, because dear god if you get hit your screen immediately goes into the, "WHAT THE *CENSORED* ARE YOU DOING!? YOU'RE GETTING YOUR *CENSORED* GUTS SHOT OUT, QUIT CATCHING BULLETS WITH YOU FACE" and there's no way you can fight back without waiting for that *poop* to go away.
15. And finally, grenade radius's. Okay, in real life a frag grenade can I believe shoot fragments up to around 40-60 yards, which is pretty deadly, but these are not *CENSORED* mini-nukes people!
I'd add more, but it's now 2:36 AM, must goto bed...
