Been to a faction or organisation meeting? Witnessed a serious conflict? Want to tell your friends about it, but don't want to give them a bunch of screenshots or horrible log files? Then this is the tool for you! http://www.glitchsociety.com/format-logs/ 1. Take your evil looking MxO log file (located at [game directory]/Profiles/[your account]/chat.log ) ; 2. Grab the lines you need; 3. Paste them into the form linked to above; 4. Set the options if you need to (instructions are at the bottom of the page); 5. Hit Format; 6. Copy the code that appears and paste it wherever you want! There are all sorts of options available: - Choose from botched HTML (for these very forums), good X/HTML (for Web pages) or typical BBcode (for simpler forums like phpBB);
- Choose to filter out any channel you want (like secret faction chat or /tells);
- Colour the names of important people (or colour their entire messages);
- Format [System] messages to look like *action sequences*;
- Make MxO-chat formatting ({i}, {b} and {c:######} tags) visible wherever you post the logs.
Make the Data Node 1 forums presentable: format your logs! (Just make sure you actually log the meetings/events you're attending: use the /logstart command in-game or hit Alt+L.) Obviously I'm open to suggestions to improve the tool, but I'm rather busy finishing off the rest of the faction Web site.

I log everything. (Unless someone manages to sneak a quick message in before I can type '/logstart'.)
*Laughs.* Glad you like it.
Let me know if you see anything wrong, or if anything isn't obvious. I tried to make it as user-friendly as possible.

Heh, I did mean in the formatter itself, like a lazy way of getting information, people giving it to you and you do nothing. :smileysurprised:

Oh! No, I did consider the idea, but no. I'm big on logging things, but not without people's consent/a method for them to know what I've recorded.

Due to a problem with our domain name, you can currently access the chat log formatter here:

I've created a stand-alone version of the formatting tool which you can install on your own site (either for convenience or because you don't trust the one on the Glitch Society Web site ).
Please send me an e-mail asking for it. You'll find the link here:

Update
- As of Update 45, outbound /tells are labelled as [TellSent]. The log formatter now takes advantage of this and correctly prefixes those /tells with 'To'. Older /tells are still subject to some ambiguity as to their origins - this cannot be remedied.
- You can now enter the name of the person taking the log (probably you). This will allow the newer outbound /tells to be coloured using the sender's colour settings, rather than the recipient's.
- Fixed a bug where LET names with whitespace at the end did not get colour applied them properly.
- Fixed a bug whereby empty [System] messages would be left in.
