SOE is black balled from any further purchase.

Mind you, there's nothing wrong with being all about making money.  Look at Blizzard!  But they show that excellence in service and support and communication is an investment that inevitably bears fruit.  They clearly have set the bar for best practices which all others would do well to emulate.  If only...if only...

I think because Blizzard makes the effort to have a good customer relations and good customer service is why they're so popular.  SMILEY  Not only that, but they actually invest in their game!  *gasp*

You know what's funny?  People in WoW b*tch and moan about how horrible Blizzard is, and how bad their customer service is...  every time I hear it, I think to myself "Good lord, be thankful you've never had to deal with SOE."

Hear hear.  I hear the same thing and honestly I just want to punch them in the face.  They have the original game, plust 2 expansion pack!  They don't get to talk about the "horror" of Blizzard.

No mercy here Walrus.../ban for you!

It's not my fault! I blame Keith!

Seriously, though, even not being able to spend time with the community or in the game much, it always made me glad that the MxO world still existed out there. It's hard to imagine being without it.

You know Walrus, I can go old school on you. Like, how Darbacour kicked your butt in the GM fights in Beta and thats the real reason. You were ashamed of yourself and ever since then could not come to gripes with talking to the community after that.

When I saw the beta players trashing the game's overlords...I had to wonder if someone was asleep at the wheel.  Or just driving while distracted.  It was kind of shocking, really.  To me, anyway.

I am not Trashing anyone, I merely am trying to convey a nostalgic memory in a whimsical manner to lighten the mood of this thread. I was merely poking fun at Walrus, instead of instulting him like everyone else had, I was giving him an excuss. Notice the Rasberry at the end, meaning in a jokingly manner, to not take what was said seriously. Walrus knows i heart him.

I think they meant the in-game trashing in PVP, not here.

That simple. To you Mr. Walrus I won't bash you, you know yourself what you could have/should have done over the past 4 years to spice up the game- rehire a LET dev to look at the database comes to mind.... but I can tell you this, SOE is blacked out from my future online purchases... to remedy the situation just a bit - Why don't you let one of those three DELL's stay active cause right now the whole "SOE will never shut down a game as long as people plays it" sounds a bit hollow now, and yes... I'm disappointed and pissed off at the way we've been treated by SOE as a community and ultimately that lands on your table... I do find it interesting how you did remove yourself from MxO years ago though... so blaming it on Keith just isn't going to cut it. That is all.

Yes, as the producer, it does ultimately land on me when things go wrong for MxO. I won't argue that fact or point fingers in other directions. If I inject a bit of humor at this point, it's because I'm disappointed as well--both in the ending of MxO and in not finding ways to change the direction of the game.

Is there more I could have done? I'm sure there was. Hindsight can bring things into unfortunate and painful clarity at times. So I try to remember all the good things about this game and it's community and hope to learn from past mistakes so I can do better in the future. Too late for MxO, sadly. But not too late for any future projects I'm responsible for.

I wish we could keep at least one server open. The option was looked into, but it wasn't feasible. So we have to retire the game and that makes me immensely sad. I understand the anger completely.

Now we just need Keith01 to log on and say "I blame Walrus" to complete the circle.

Did you guys look into possibly selling the server binary? Or are there SOE chat/network dependencies, license issues from Lith tools, IP issues, or other problems that would make that a flat out no?

What would it take to leave one server as is?

Walrus, its ok, we just dispointed, we lost the thing we loved, they finally beat us all the way down. A lack of honesty in recent months is horrible way to go, I am sure I saw post saying we were still going be here, its just lie after lie with this game.

This....so this.

I think what SOE and people on the Station Access forums not getting is that we're not upset just because we're coming to an end.  We're upset because of the way we're coming to an end.  We're upset because of SOE treatment of us, we're upset about the Wall of Silence that existed before the announcement of MxO closure.  We just feel like if SOE actually communicated with us, if we had an actual dialogue going on, then the closure wouldn't have caused such an uproar.  However, with SOE it was just one lie after another, it was just one kick after another, it was just a cycle of abuse that'll end in the death of one of the best MMO's out there.

The first Matrix film grossed over $460 million dollars.  You have, quite literally, killed the franchise.  That's quite an achievement.  Congratulations.  I won't be around to see how you handle your future projects, so good luck I guess.

If you couldn't see ways to help improve this game, then I'm sorry, you weren't fit to be a producer.  Maybe some advertising?  Maybe actually poking your head in here more than once a year?  In my opinion, you sold us out for bluer  pastures (lulz get it?).  You helped make the awesome game that the Matrix Online was, and then it's like you ditched us without a second thought and have focused everything on the Agency.

Sorry if I'm being harsh, but I loved this game and this franchise, and it infuriates me to see what SOE has done (or rather, HASN'T done) to it.

Remember, as fun as MXO is it still remains a timesink... maybe we should be glad SOE removes one of our timesinks. I would still love this thing as dumbed down single player game, but that's just me dreaming.

For the future... next one to go down is Planetside (lack of customers), followed by SWG (lack of customers after SWTOR goes live).... and from what I heard SOE is going to get the shock of a lifetime whenever the agency goes live , I'm kind of looking forward to it... the shock, not the agency
