/face and /follow are just something like /tsuj and NUMLOCK. It shouldn't be removed, because there's a thousand ways to repeat it, so why bother unless you remove the whole big tumour of the thing instead of a sliver?
We already don't have interactive emotes with hostiles, so it's definitely doable.

the "um...no" was referring to dagonet's admission that he'd be willing to support /face and /follow just to see contrails go....not sure where his reasoning ran off to when he was writing that statement...
Oh that makes sense. I shouldn't be able to /insult or /taunt a specific person at all. I shouldn't be able to /disagree with a certain enemy. Yeah. All for the sake of PVP, even though this game is supposed to be about RP. What a wonderful idea. /rolleyes Drop the tone, darlin. You disagree? Great, state why, back it up, and we'll go from there. Carrying on, there are already many games that disable emotes on hostile servers. However, Dagonet made a good point, in that this wouldn't work on a hostile server.
I think a good alternative (pats self on back for thinking of it) is make all emotes have a family reuse timer (also helps prevent some system spamming) like 10 seconds maybe? As well make activating emotes only possible when standing still (makes sense no?) So you can only "cheat" every 10 seconds? No way. (Yes way if it's the solution to system spamming, though)
Does an emote have to point your character in someone's direction?
well you can still /taunt and /wave to people who are hostile, you just have to aim manually
