New ranking system on forums- tell me how its workin?

I think controller is higher than operative as I got a post 5* just now and my rank switched back..

Now I'm back to operative! **bleep** this ranking system is flexible..

Aww I missed seeing myself as an opperative it seems, as I jumped from Awakened to Controller while switching to this forum!

Indeed. As we've seen in yet another topic, people can not be trusted with this rating systm. Which is sad as in essence it's a good idea to help point out the useful users. But now, it's used more of a "I hate you, eat a low rating *****!" type of thing. *sigh*

As I said before the wipe, I think any ranking system is silly.
If its based on post count, you get more spam. If its based on
per rating, then you get a "popularity" contest.

But then maybe I'm just bitter cause I rarely post anyway. I
can't count the number of times I've found myself typing up something
up and saying to myself "Does this actually contribute in anyway?" and
then just canceling...

(Hmm this is where I should cancel this post. Aaaaaahhhhh!)

SOEs EQ2 forums use two tracks, one on post counts and one on page
views or posts read. I think the coppertop, for example, uses the
latter as this is my third post but I have read a looooot of threads.

Forum Ranking System

All users under 1 month "New Member"

There are 30 ranks after new member 6 of those are star ranks. Posters will get the normal rank -or- if their star rating is high enough they will get the star rank, star ranks will override any normal ranks. The only benefit of the star ranks is that you get them sooner than the normal community rank. All ranks above crewman have a "officer" insignia, gold for star ranks, Silver for regular ranks.

The colors that the line is written in below will be the "name" color for each rank

Required for rank 1 (Member same as current) 1 month minimum
Required for rank 2 (Community Member same as current) 1 month minimum 50 post (Edit Granted)
Required for rank 3 (Sr. Member) 2 month minimum (Edit Granted)
Required for rank 4 (Sr. Community Member) 2 month minimum 75 post
Required for rank 5 (Contributor) 4 month minimum
Required for rank 6 (Community Contributor) 4 month minimum 100 post ----New Icons Granted-----
