The consensus on Recursion, our active and alive server, is that we don't want a merge, so the majority there is pleased that it can't and won't happen.  We have a play style all our own and don't want to be homogenized into the play style that centers around Mara Central.  If there were a merge, it would be take two communities with unique characteristics and mash them into something that has the flavor of neither.  There would be issues of reconciliation and frankly, I don't want everyone on the same server.  Recursion is our home, and we play there the way we like and choose to.  Just like Syntax is other people's home, and it should and will stay that way because they don't want us there mucking up their play style any more than we want them traipsing around in ours.  Variety is the spice of life, conformity is death.

Rather a lot of Recursionites have joined the Syntax community and integrated quite smoothly.

There won't be a merge because it can't be done. That's really all there is to it. And it has already been said by Walrus at the Anniversary event that it won't happen.

The last merge was done by WB/Monolith right before they sold the game to SOE. SOE doesn't have the personnel or resources to do a merge, they didn't get all the developers for this game from Monolith when they bought the game from WB who was the majority shareholder in Monolith at that time. SOE got just a few of the original developers with the purchase of MxO and it's been said many times over the years that there isn't anyone here who knows enough about the code do a lot of the things we players would like to see done.

My grandmother already knows how to suck eggs thanks.

Lol Gypsy, it's good to know you're still trying to take completely unprovoked cheapshots at me. Your forum vendetta makes me laugh.

Sorry, it was more of a comment about Ps10n's attitude.  Not everything is about you.

So b/c we think that SOE can't do a merge & at Anniversary Party on the Hill it was mentioned it was nvr going to happen anyway - this thread might wither. Its good that some ppl feel passionate about 'their' server, but sometimes the dissing gets on a bit much. The soap boxes get piled higher & higher until one might fall.

In effect the issues is not so much merge as the population implosion. (there's more TRIAL accounts on EVE running at any one time than ppl PS10N has on his buddy list). We expect that the new ppl's experience will not be the same as the Beta guys nor even those that joined last year or last summer. Nevertheless it does not follow that their experience is going to be bad.

As for servers - meh everyone's experience is different. I walked around solo on Recursion until lvl 20ish without any meaning full interaction, on Syntax I think I was there a half-hour? So my experience wasn't "Recursion the Welcoming" -  Vector is an other kettle of fish - I'm not sure what RSI is my main anymore - Vector or Recusion one - but guys it's all one game (and was the best out there)

Ppl are still having fun on Vector, Syntax & Recursion - Let them! Help them! maybe they'll stay. - (wild impossible dream - high server loads become a problem again .

Just b/c the graph is 'pretty' doesn't make it accurate. 1st - Vector - Syntax not merged, 2nd - servers all same size only whats going on inside & population therein are different. 3rd providing numbers (1800) with Recursion and none for Vector-Syntax compares celery to kiwi fruit.

I find it the most amusing that people get mad about a thread discussing a subject that may or may not happen ever... I would love to find this kind of passion discussion the philosophy behind the system and Plato's cave, however the option isn't there anymore, for me atleast.

The logic behind a non merge is foolish and self centered but people still feel the need to be a big fish in a tiny pond. Grow a set (the 14 people in your faction will still remember you on another server) and lets get this game going again for as long as we have left.

I guess the part where you mention my name exclusively led me to believe I was involved somehow, apparently it's an easy mistake to be made. As long as people don't respond to their names we'll no longer have this problem.
