Hello everyone,
Since i started MxO a few days ago, i've always noticed a a horrible, unstoppable shudder / jerk occuring when my character is running down, around, along the road, looking around, fighting, jumping, you name it... Though it mainly occurs when im running down the streets, entering new locations. For egsample Mara C to Magog. I can run this on full graphics and still hit 30-40 FPS. At low settings i can hit 60-85.

So what did i do? Bought an entirely new beast system. Didnt solve it.

I've tried EVERY different graphical setting, opened the required ports and consulted every 'help your performance / lag' thread on this board. I'm starting to think now, it MUST be this lag. My ping is ALWAYS at 210-400ms! Im on a 1Megabyte broadband connection! My FPS are, at an average with my current settings 40-60+. The latency is ALL over the place in this game, maybe its this unstability causing the problem. The way my ping jumps from 180 - 280 in a second, then back down to 200 then back up 300. It's all over the place. This kind of unstability can cause these kind of problems.

So im still left to think, what the hell is it, really. Is it my router? I've opened the ports, so it shouldnt be...

Im in the UK, is that the problem? I hope not, cos surely that would mean every EU player is basicly experiencing the same problem?

All and any help is welcomed, as long as it isnt 'update your drivers' or 'try these XtremeG drivers' or 'reformat' or any other suggestion regarding some sort of maintenance tool because this is an entirely new computer, including hard drive. I've posted a similar thread to this, pre-upgraded computer though. I would really appreciate a DEV to actually have their word in it this time too, please. Its becoming unplayable, very unplayable and to be honest i love this game and dont want to have to put it down because of some nasty latency issue.

Here are my specs:

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition - Service Pack 2
Motherboard: Nforce 4 Gigabyte Technology GA-K8NS Ultra SKT 939 6.70 nForce drivers.
Graphics Card: GeForce 6800(GS) 256MB Ram PCI-Express 16X - 81.98 Forceware Drivers.
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ San Diego Chip - 2.26GHZ
RAM: 1 Gigabyte
Hard Drive: 80 Gigabyte MAXTOR 6L080M0
Power Supply: Hiper Technology TYpe R(Blue) - 580 Continuous Wattage.
Networking: D-Link DI804 Router.
Internet Speed: 1 Megabyte broadband.

That is a monster of a system. make sure you have the latest firmware for your router, and that you have turned off all of your antivirus and firewall software that may be running while the game is played.

Performance is about the quality of the 3D engine, some 3D engines can as smooth as butter with amazing quality.  That said, lets be honest, MxO is not known for its glorious well performing engine, its slow and requires double the effort to run smooth, jeez even a computer running Everquest II engine (which is most demanding mmo engine to present day) has trouble keeping up with MxO.

Im also a europian player and I have the same thing, overal performance on a monster system, I have OCZ extreme gaming 2G GB ram, Nv7800, 10.000RPM hardrives, etc.

So personally I think its a bad engine, but do these things and you'll run as smooth as butter : disable water effects (this is the most crucial setting as your computer renders water even 3 blocks away), set external view to 1/4, internat view to 1/4, prop to roughly 40%, weather effect 100%, npc/cars to 100% (if ya like that, my system has no problems rendering them), dont use the gloomy/brightness switch, I use green for the matrix feeling, high texture and high shadows. turn off both LOD settings. Leave building shadows on.

Again its not about, "your computer" sucks so lower settings, its about the "engine sucks", lower your settings.

Also important note, high computers come with high end screens so mine is running above 1600x1200 resolutions which demands MUCH MORE performance then a lower resolution, switching to a lower resolution on a LCD/TFT screen is pointless/dumb as those screens have only one crystal sharp setting and Im refusing to play game while the graphics look like they have been vaselined...

hope this helps.

EDIT: I have a belgian cable connection off 20MBIT DOWN and 1MBIT upload and I still get a high ping and get connection lag.
