((Well...

(Feel free to correct me, Mervs...)
Merovingian Operatives, as far as I'm aware, work for the Frenchman in exchange for certain freedoms within the simulation (and RP-wise without as well) that Machine operatives are granted automatically, and that Zion isn't privy to due to lack of access to certain things within (and once again RP-wise without) the System.  For instance, there are areas everyone of every org must "hack" access nodes to gain access to, but as a Zionite, you will be half-heartedly attacked by Agents even after you've gained access to an area.  Merovingian and Machine operatives do not have this problem to deal with.  Also, you'll find a lot of players who's characters are Exile programs working for the Merovingian in exchange for their freedom.

As for EPN and Cyphs, they are splinter cells from Zion and the Machinists respectively.  Both organizations are generally seen as extremists and they tend to go to great lengths to accomplish their goals.  Due to a new update that will be rolling out next week, these organizations will be going "underground" meaning they will not be player-supported organizations.  This may not mean much to you being brand new, but look here ( http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/..._id=36300025928 ) for more information.  Anyway, to really describe it basically, EPN are Zionites who want more than what the Zion Council had to offer and Cypherites are those who decided to protect the bluepills from being offered the choice of "freedom," since they think the freedom is BS.

Hope that helps))

My own view on Org appeals:

Zion: Freedom for all humans from the tyrrany of the Machines.

Machines: Survival and self-preservation above basic human rights.

Merovingian: Self-interest and basic ignorance of moral guidelines. Do what you like and you like what you do. PARTY HARD!

EPN: Dedicated to the memory and teachings of Neo (and later Morpheus).

CYPH: Interest in living a happy life, regardless of the truth behind their existance.

Granted, as an individual you are entitled to your own way of approaching your Org's general goals... but when the only goal as a Merv is to do what you want so long as it doesn't tick off the boss (which is actually really hard to do anyway), it opens up quite a bit of possibilities... *shameless attempt at recruiting*

and a poor effort lol. Regardless, I admired your objectivity in summarizing those goals.

You get a wide range of people in the Merv organization, just as you find a wide range of people in "normal" life: we're not all lesbian vampires or power-mad megalomaniacs or incendiary maniacs. There's a large bell-curve to amorality and I know quite a few Mervs who are on the moral side of it.

If it has to do with Gothique, send me a PM. Now that she's not around to get on every reasonable person's nerves, she's rather funny.
