Does anyone have any particular affinity to some of these crazy looking things?  I'm also curious if anyone has used them in RP stories or player events.

I know the Ascension monument is quite popular ever since it was rumored to be the way into the Merv's famous "Blackwood" construct.  But what about some of the one's that you don't pass by everyday like the Mjolnir monument?  It's name is the name of Thor's hammer, it even looks like a really big hammer.  But what the heck is it doing there in a vacant lot?  Am I the only person who thinks of these things?

They are mostly there for show to make the megacity look prettier. They probably have been used in player events and maybe in events created by the devs (I wouldn't know as they never happen in my time zone). If not maybe they'll use them in the future because they have started utilising forgotten areas around the city in the storyline like Pendhurst Amaranth in Downtown to broaden the story.

Cool thing would be is if the monuments would play a vital role in the future storyline.

Well I always liked how they used the Sanbai sculpture in the Pandora's missions.  It was pretty cool to check out that postcard you get and see where it leads.

It's good to hear that people like using areas of the city other than boring ol' Richland.

I also like to use places like Peg's Diner and Ernesto's Italian Eatery for meetings and waypoints.  It's fun to use the little landmarks around the city.  Bookstores are fun too, they have nice big comfy chairs.

The Ascension monument was used by Invalesco to escape to some hiding place. It also plays an abstract role in Amber's first mission.

The Mjolnir monument... I think it was used as a battleground to fight off either the N30 or Super LED Agents, but not sure.

And something that would probably interest you the most, in one of the very first events officially posted on the forum, Ghost and some other players had a conversation about the meaning of the Pyramid Sculpture in Historic District.

Overall, the monuments seem to be pieces of modern art in the city and the game, probably all with some symbolic meaning and really just great design.

Doh!  I couldn't remember that dirty little stinker's name.  I accidentally punted the wrong vampire during that event... it was on that big slide part of the monument.

And I forgot about the Pyramid thingy.  Neurophyte was led there and killed some evil fake agents with her magic super powers.  Of course neither she nor the Novalis II officially exist anymore, so I'm glad it's been involved in something else.

The Novalis II does exist, or at least is recognized as a fact of the past, mainly because of Veil's prehistory.

I love the pyramid in the Historic District...I am also very fond of the monuments in Mara and in Stamos.

I am writing an RP (actually it's been ongoing for a year, I'm a lazyass), and I'm using the Hypercube monument in as a story point. The monument (as I've been told) represents the seven deadly sins, which is a main topic in my work.
