Okay... I'm looking at a story arc where my character finds out she's pregnant, but I was wondering how I should run this: should I play out the nine months in real time or should I foreshorten it a little? It's gonna be a tough act to keep up for the duration, and I'd had the thought that she shifts from active combat (SMG Specialist) to a non-combat position (probably coding or Physician), for the simple reason that she's not sure how getting her RSI shorted in the Matrix would affect her unborn children, especially because in the Real she's small and, as she later finds out, she'll be expecting twins. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Twwiiiiiiiinsss....*ahem* I'm always for two things, especially since this is the Matrix where pew pew is possible: 1.) Rapid futuristic pregnancy booster thing so you can pop 'em out and be back in the battlefield in no time, barring maternitity leave. ;) 2.) RSI deterioration (any cause, Viral, head-booted, w/e) forcing surgery. (It's more dramatic this way. :p)

RSI deterioration (any cause, Viral, head-booted, w/e) forcing surgery. (It's more dramatic this way. :p) Option two *might* work, but the earliest it could be done would be six or seven months, and then you got the difficulties of caring for premature infants in the Real. They're hard enough to take care of in the real world, let alone in a world that's solid nuclear winter. :: Laughs a little::
Option one... I don't see it working without killing our gal, since pregnancy takes a *LOT* out of a gal under normal circumstances, let alone trying to speed it up. Consider the fact that a pregnant lady has to eat for two, as the saying goes. The shortest I'd go would be six months, but then there's the matter of hauling more nutrients into her system, etc.

We're supposed to be 6 or 7 months further in the story line so if you're going for the MXO time... Man, that will take long... j/k MXO time is a brilliant idea!

I believe it's an hour per day in MxO so 1 day is 24 days in MxO 9 months is say 9 x 28 = 252 252 / 24 =10.5 so 10 and a half days is pretty much 9 months, how long till the babies are due?

WROOOONG! Whew, thanks for sticking up for the idea, bannaphone (neat name, by the way). And to quote Abel in the "Sandman Comics": "This is my story, I'm telling it my way", DemondHunter. The idea is only in the tinkering-with-it stage, so I haven't done anything to set it in motion yet. I know only three female player-characters who've RPed pregnancy, anyway (two of them ended in miscarriage), so it's not like it's been over-done. I might not even run with the idea in the end, as I still haven't worked out all the knots yet.

Heh got my vote for category of "Most planned out RP" and heck if you need a rich grandaddy warbucks...........I guess il let the money do the talking and not my mouth itself XD. Plus i am a grandfather in the real life scenario "not matrix "real" or inside matrix. talking about real life as this message board" but its a pain in the rear having to clean the smelly ones they leave in there diaper. *huggies dont fail the lil one now*

I actually thought of an alternate slant on this arc, inspired by "Morning Sickness", one of the Matrix Comics, in which a woman adopts a child by swiping a fetus off a stalk out in the fields; I re-read it recently and it gave me a few ideas. We'll see where this goes. (I'll admit, sometimes just brain-storming and tossing ideas around is as much fun as the actual RP. :: Laughs at self:: ))
