I looked up while telling the story to Agent Gray, then looked down at my watch. It had been over an hour. I was getting hungry, needed to stretch, and was wondering what the other Agents were up to. "Where are you going?" Gray asked as I stood up. I looked at him and smiled slightly. "I told you this would be a long story. I'm hungry. And I'm curious what the other Agents are up to." I walked down the hallway to one of the offices and heard voices inside; from what I could discern it sounded like five voices. It was the rest of the Agents. I had to keep myself from laughing as I listened to their conversation. "But you were in check." "Nope, I can move the Queen out of check." "No way!" "What a cheater." "But you're already in checkmate. You lose!" I heard one of them laugh. Not only did the Agents have emotions, but as time elapsed, the "virus" changed them, and they became more and more human. I smiled as I opened the door. "Are you guys arguing?" I asked them. Agent Brown smiled at me. "I'm keeping them in line." "I hope so. No fighting." "Do you wish to play, Ms. Anderson?" One of the others asked me. "No thanks." "Alright, new game." Another Agent said, clearing the board of pieces with one movement of his arm, then somehow rematerializing the pieces back to their respectable spots on the board. I nodded, smiled, and closed the door. I turned to walk back into the hallway and almost ran head-first into Agent Gray. "Why do you keep following me around?" I asked him. "I don't know...I have a...need...to be around you." I smiled. "You mean you're lonely to be by yourself?" He nodded. I walked to a room full of computers, and began to code a device in which I could hide Agents if the Machines happened to break in. It was sorta like a device to dematerialize the Agents and then store their code structure, and then allow me to rematerialize them later when it was safe. "I wish to hear the rest of the story." Gray said. I nodded. "Maybe in a bit. I've got work to do." He sat down next to me and watched me work. The Agent constantly was watching me, it was starting to creep me out.

September 15th.

The Machines infiltrated the perimeter at about 6am. I figured they were trying to catch us off guard. Luckily for all of us, the Agents never slept and I had guns hidden all over the construct. I awoke with a start, doing a leap off the couch in my office and grabbing the nearest guns. I then grabbed my device. I hit an alarm, an alarm that the Agents knew meant an emergency and to convene in my office. I waited for them as they ran through the door one by one.

"Here's the situation," I began, "the Machines have broken in, and the shield I put around the construct won't hold forever. I need to start transporting the rest of you into the device." "We're ready to begin." Agent Brown said, speaking for all of them. "Very well. Here goes nothing." I hit a button, and a beam shot out from my device. The Agents all turned into green code, and flew like a stream into the end of my device, which looked sorta like a TV remote control. I heard a beep which meant the programs had been transferred successfully. I turned around, running for the hardline in my office. I dialed a number I had pre-programmed to transfer me out of the construct in event of an emergency. It worked. The Machines hadn't anticipated that I had created another exit beside the one that they would come through.

Unfortunately for all of us, my hardline hack wasn't perfect and I knew there would be some risk. I felt dizzy and slightly nauseous as I came through the other end. I had the Agent Storage Device in my pocket. I opened my cell phone and hit 2, the speed dial for the Merovingian. "Sir, we have a problem." I began immediately. "What is wrong, my Wire?" He asked. "The Machines have hacked the construct. I have the Agents decompiled and stored on a special storage device. I need somewhere to hide." "I will bring you to the Chateau. The Machines cannot reach you there." "Alright. Thank you, Sir." I closed my cell phone as I approached a hardline. The world turned to code rather quickly, suddenly, as the Merovingian transferred me and my "decomped" Agents to the Chateau.

We arrived at the Chateau a couple moments later. I was in a rather large room. Piglet walked up and oinked at me, at least he was ok. I aimed my device at an open area of the room and hit the button. It beeped twice, shot a beam of code, and the Agents rematerialized. "You guys ok?" I asked them. "We are undamaged." I sighed. "Good. Feel free to explore, relax..." "Relax?" Agent Gray asked. I nodded. "Yeah...you know...sit down, read a book - do something that doesn't involve standing around watching me." Agent Gray walked about 4 feet away to the nearest wall and began to look at the picture art that hung there. Agent Brown walked up to me. "There is something wrong." "Huh?" I replied, as I grabbed Piglet and held him. That's when the three Agents that had been playing chess together only hours ago turned to me, and one pulled out his gun. He trained it on me. I dropped Piglet, who landed on his feet unhurt and ran to hide. "What are you doing?!" I demanded. The Agent cocked his head, showing no emotion. "Jane Anderson. You are wanted by the System for the illegal hacking of an Agent program." "You are coming with us." "Resistance is worthless." The Agent looked at the two behind me. "Agent Brown, Agent Gray. You have been instructed to return to the Source for immediate deletion. You must comply." One of the others spoke up. "We have been instructed to apprehend Ms. Anderson immediately. Agents, you have 24 hours to comply with the Source, or we will return to apprehend you." The Agent grabbed me by my arm, I couldn't escape his steel grip. I felt handcuffs, and the entire place dissolved into green code. The Machines had kidnapped me again.

It was a twelve by eight cell. A sink, a toilet, a small bed where I had been sleeping. Made entirely of cement. I sat up and yawned. I heard footsteps coming up to my cell door. I looked through the tiny window with bars in it on my door. It was an Agent. A guard opened the heavy steel door. It was an Agent I had never seen before. "No doubt you are wondering why you are here. We have transferred you to our prison construct to be held indefinitely, pending a memory wipe." "What? Memory wipe?" "Yes. The Architect determined that the only way to make you more benign to the System is to wipe your memory, effectively making you into a bluepill again. Arrangements will be made for your body to be reinserted into it's pod after the wipe." "I'd rather die than go back to being a bluepill." "You have little, if any choice in the matter, Ms. Anderson." "I want my attorney." "Your human law does not apply here." He turned around and left. "One more thing...you can expect us to be returning to your cell within the hour to begin the memory wipe." He left the cell, and the guard locked me back in. Realizing my life was over and it seemed completely hopeless, I began to cry...and pray.

I was still on my knees praying when I heard commotion outside...gunfire, screaming. Then, I heard "Get away from the door!" so, I did. I backed up to the back wall, and the door got blown off it's hinges. Outside stood Commandos, and the General. "Come on, Soldier! We don't have much time." He said to me. I ran up to him, and they led me out of the Prison, as an armed escort. I saw Agents laying dead in an office down the hall. I wondered how the General killed them, until I saw an Override Orb in the office with them. We got to the exit, and near the door, a man made of wireframes was standing there. "Hello," He said, "You're the one who created Agent White?" "Well, I didn't really create him, but I did give him emotions." "Excellent. Nice to meet you. My name is Carlyne." I wondered what an Intruder could want. Surely he had something to do with Algorithm Black, the very thing that had killed Agent White?

Later, I visited the Merovingian at Club Hel, after moving my body from Zero One to a Merovingian base in the Real.

I got to Club Hel and found the Merovingian. "Hello, Wire..." He said, "I have a present for you as promised." He was sitting in the balcony at the top floor of Hel. Next to him sat a vampire. He smiled at me and showed his fangs. "This is my present?" I asked. He nodded. "My name is Cain Lestat. A pleasure to meet you." The vampire said to me. I nodded and flashed a quick smile. But I was anything but happy to meet him. "With all due respect, Liege, I thought my present was something better." "Ah, but this is the best present one could give anyone, Wire." He replied, "You see, Cain is a vampire, and he's thirsty. I brought him here to meet you because I know you love vampires." I nodded. "And?" I knew there was a catch. "And...he would like to turn you." "You mean so I can become a vampire again?" He nodded. I shook my head. "No thanks, sir. I was a vampire once and it was a miserable existence." "But you fail to see the beauty of this, Wire..." The Merovingian said again. "Vampirism allows you to do things other operatives can't. You are faster, stronger...and the only consequence is the thirst." "And...she would be much more beautiful as a vampire..." I heard a female voice chime in. It was Persephone. The Merovingian's wife. She walked up and set a small plate of cake on the coffee table between the three of us. I became nervous. I knew where the Merv was going with all this. I stood up. "I'm sorry, Sir...I cannot accept your gift." "Ah, but Wire, you assume that your acceptance of this gift is voluntary. It is not. Cain has come here to turn you today and he won't be disappointed." A pause. He pointed at the cake. Persephone sat next to him. "Take a piece of cake, relax Wire...this is not such a big deal." "Ah, but it is. The thirst is miserable, and I don't want to be afflicted with it again." And I turned and left the balcony. "But you cannot refuse this gift, Wire! Cain will pursue you!" He called over the balcony. I didn't answer. I left Club Hel as fast as I could.
