We’re being allowed onto the surface. Zion has secured an agreement with their machine equivalents for a recon and retrieval mission. Our ship was chosen and personally I think it might be because of the relatively small crew and therefore “expendable” to some degree should things go sour.

I think I’m starting to get paranoid. Zion command is starting to show cracks that few can avoid seeing these days. Firstly there’s Niobe’s involvement with the General, which is still quietly splitting us in two, and Anome’s incompetence is causing almost as much unrest. It was him that lost the key to the case and the number of operatives who value him as a leader can be counted on the hand of man with no hands.

But, putting that aside I think this mission will be, if not a success, then not a serious failure. For one we get to go to the surface without having to worry about sentinels and surface scanners and we can concentrate on the mission at hand.

Of course we still have crumbling buildings, electrical storms and the possible threat that while we’re away someone will annoy somebody or something else and the whole war will start up again with us out in the open and all that jazz to worry about when we get up there but we’ll see….
