ive installed and uninstalled mxo twice now and i keep having the same problem with the launcher not coming up. and it says "Failed to create a copy of the launcher or a critical support library for patching. If you have a file called Matrix.exe in your game directory please make sure it is writable."

Ooo it has been a while since I have seen this problem!

Try this:

Download this .zip file... http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...232&p_olh=0

After extracting it copy its contents into your MxO folder and let it overwrite the old files.

From past posts this should fix the problem and its a lot better than going back through and having to reinstall everything!

Let us know if this works ^_^

Have you made sure all files in your MxO directory, including Matrix.exe, are not write protected?

I don't know about Vista (I try to steer clear) but it may be a similar way...

  • Select the main MxO folder and right click.
  • Select properties and in the properties window you should see options for the folders attributes.
On XP they are Read-Only and Hidden with tick boxes next to them.
For me, to make sure a folder and it's contents are writeable I...
  • Make sure there isn't a tick in the read only box and click apply.
  • XP will then ask if you want to apply this option to the folder only or the folder and entire contents.
  • Click folder and entire contents and press ok.
That will then (at least on XP anyway) make all items within that folder writable.

I hope that helps, as I said I don't use Vista so I'm not too sure if the process is even remotely the same. I'm sure if it isn't the same someone else will be able to help you out.
