I just wanna check with everyone what they think about this and have a dev input. Right now if you run sideways you can break the speed limit and also cause intense lag for both yourself and anyone chasing you. I asked a CSR (Brewko) if this is considered a bug/exploit and I go this response: "While there may be an advantage to running sideways this is not a bug nor an exploit, if you wish to run sideways yourself then you're more then welcome to do so." and that he also checked this with the QA team. Should anything be done about this? Is it a bug/Will it be considered as a bug?

Why would they make this an exploit if you can do exactly the same thing? Stop being lazy and press another key while running.

I've never experienced a sideways run to cause any more lag than a normal max speed run. I've been a sideways runner ever since Goldeneye.

No, it isn't and it shouldn't be.

I never said I don't do it, so please don't start flaming. And yes it causes more latency which is why they limited the speed in the first place.

Oh, and it's strafe-run. They limited the speed in the first place because people could run into new areas faster than their graphics cards could draw. Strafe-running isn't that fast.

I think it'd be a pretty pointless addition to the list of bugs and exploits in mxo tbh. It's something that's always been around, and everyone is used to it now. So it should just be left as it is. Plus, it's never made me lag 0.o

Technically, strafing doesn't break the speed limit. The movement speed has a cap of 60%. That cap is set towards all types of movement: - Running
- Walking
- Sneaking
- Invisibility
- Strafing
True, strafing is faster than running but even it restricted to the sale rule. You can't strafe faster than 60%. Oh how I miss the old days when folks were blurring across the city. Caution Boots, Hyperspeed, Black Widow Dress/Gi and Ashencourte pants alone kept us moving at around 200%. Add buffs and it was insane!

I love strafing lol, it's the best when trying to get away from people or just when they are running at you and you can instantly go in a different direction causing them to lag at the same time and giggle at them from 50m away as they get frustraited. Ahhh, I love strafing. =P

Strafing is faster than running, which is why u will never see a person running forward catch someone strafing. Oh and try strafing in middle of big pvp to catch someone and you will see the lag.

I do get lag when I chase people strafing, and especially when I use it. I suppose if I persued the reason as to why I get the lag the CSRs would tell me my PC is too good again.
As for the strafing, I don't see any serious issues with it in my view, as both lag comes to the chaser and the chased, in my experience at least. I suppose it's one of those tactic change things, everyone knows it, and does it.

Strafing is not a bug it's part of the game. Yes, you move a bit faster than running forward. The lag is cause by the amount of ppl in the area, not the move it self. If you go strafing down the street DT you will experience no lag because 99% you won't find another sould there besides your self. If your in the middle of pvp and you and doing something that requires alot of processing on your graphics card then you are going to experience lag. The speed was already reduced to prevent lag issues and client crashes, everyone running around at 200% was causing alot of stress on the servers.
