One little thing that always bugged me was how the Agents addresssed Morpheus. They just called him... Morpheus. Not Mr. So-and-so as they do with all the other red pills. Admittedly, the only other awakened they ever mention is Neo, but it seems the rule is that the Agents always refer to the person by their "real name" that they had before they were unplugged. So do they just not know Morpheus's name or was he afforded that much respect by the Agents?

Perhaps he simply doesn't have a previous name.

Entirely possible.

Born out of a hospital, to a life of poverty.

He could've gone his entire Bluepill life without ever having signed a form or had his name entered anywhere.

Entirely possible.

Morpheus didn't have a very long life as a redpill, he was awakened at an early age as indicated by one of the Matrix comics where they hold the Bread feast in Zion. One of the frames from that comic depicts a young Morpheus chowing down on some good 'ol fasioned bread.

As for his real name, no idea. Just thougth I'd add in the young Morpheus bit.

Edit: I researched. Here is the comic. Read through it, or you can skip to Page 9b and see what I'm talking about.

That was an excellent question TheFates. And the answers that follow it are equally feasable.

I've been thinking about this one. now, I played Enter the Matrix. In it, Niobe calls several contacts to tell the other ships to meet. She get's an answering machine with Morpheus' voice saying. "Welcome to the Daniel's Institute of Dream Interpretation." Perhaps Morpheus (God of Sleep and Dreams) Blue Name is Daniels

I doubt it. The "Daniel" reference in ETM was a pointer to the biblical
Daniel who interpreted King Nebachadnezzer's troubling dream.
