Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity
Calculate what you will, or will not tolerate.
Desperate to control all and everything
Unable to forgive your scarlet letterman.

Here from the king's mountain view;
Here from the wild dream come true -
Feast like a sultan, I do,
on treasures and flesh, never few.

( <3 )

Pausing for a moment on the side of a remote mountain, overlooking the petrified, scorched human city below, Amirah called out "Py, you really should get back. It's freezing out here."

Glancing over his shoulder, Pyraci stood and turned towards her. "Go on. I'll catch up soon enough. Just need to clear my head for a minute."

"I hope it's quick! I'm not flyin' this thing." She returned. He glanced at her again, then at the revolver he found in one of the building raids earlier, that he was hiding from her view.

"Sorry... I'll be back up soon." He smiled slightly with a heavy, tired brow and waved his free hand.

"Ok... You better!" She replied quickly, returning a smile of her own and ran back to the loading area on the ship.

His own smile warmed as she made her way back, and he turned around as she disappeared. His smile slowly gave way and his lips started to curve downward. He knelt as his knees gave out, looked down at the weapon he'd polished in his quarters since they left earlier. He loaded a single bullet into the chamber and gave it a spin. The thunder crackled as he lifted it to his temple and pulled the hammer back. Staring into a catatonic blur, he pulled his finger over the trigger and squeezed.

( SMILEY )

As the tension boiled to a head, the hammer released and he didn't blink. His eyes rolled to the right, as he released the gun from the side of his head and opened the chamber. The bullet was still in position. If it were Russian Roullette, he would have been dead, but the bullet remained still.

"Why the hell can't I do it?!!! Why won't it work?!!!"
He exclaimed as he fired shot after empty shot at his head in frustration.

He slumped over and sobbed.

A million thoughts invaded and infested his head. Why did he have to see what he'd seen out there? Why were people still getting sick whenever he was around? Why can't he make it go away? But they all hinged on one question: Why doesn't it affect her? He glanced back at his home away from home. Fortunately, she didn't see what he was trying to do. Slowly and reluctantly, he stood to his feet and dropped the weapon to the ground. The gun fired into the distance and echoed. Pausing again and looking over his shoulder at it he pondered "Just my luck; I try to get this over with and do everybody a favor and nothing. Now the son of a *CENSORED* wants to work..."

He picked it up and stuffed it in a tattered, crudely-sown pocket as Amirah came back out.

"What the hell was that?! Are you alright?"

"Yeah... Yeah, I'm fine. That was... that was nothing." He said as he nodded quietly.

She stood there in silence with a worried expression, making it apparent she didn't believe him. He didn't like that this kept happening, but didn't want to drive her away either. It was time to get moving though. Maybe Fara noticed something too... maybe not. Nothing left to do but find out though.

"I'm sorry. L..Let's get outta here..."
He muttered as they made their way  back to the Cenobite.

Later that evening, Pyraci paced the operations deck of the ship as the others slept. He poured water out of a tin cup onto the soil of a small potted plant that sat under an ultraviolet lamp. Riot stepped in quietly and glanced at the captain.

"...you haven't been asleep, have you?"

Pyraci turned to him briefly before continuing to water the budding flower. "No, but that's not unusual. I'm usually up around this time."

Riot folded his arms. "...yeah, but you're not usually up for 3 days straight."

"I know..." he said, as he continued.

"Ok, what is it this time? You aren't losin' it, are you? This ain't the time, man." Riot replied as he moved closer.

"There are some things that still aren't resolved that I need to do, but you guys are more important."
He pointed at the flower's leaves. "See the way I figure, since we can grow plants with it, and simulate Vitamin D, if we had a stable way to generate UV light, we could grow what we need and not have to settle near the existing fields."

"But how are we gonna pull that off? We'd need to pull from the Machines, and you know sooner or later they'll find out."

"That's why we need to find some on the inside that can make sure that doesn't happen..."

Aboard the Hovercraft Carrier Cerberus, Lord Inqubus sat in front of the multitude of monitors that lined one entire wall of his bedchamber. It was no secret that he frequently monitored transmissions from his spybots aboard the various ships he’s come into contact with, as well as those of Abaddon hovercrafts. Tonight was no exception.

Inqubus tapped at the control panel, obviously disinterested at the usual images on the large monitor in front of him. Transmissions of crew members going about their routine tasks, NullWhite making what seemed to be eternal repairs to his hovercraft aboard the Cerberus, and even transmissions from his ever increasing enemies’ ships bored him to tears. It wasn’t until his monitor displayed Pyraci and Amirah standing outside of the Cenobite that he halted the changing frequencies on his control panel.

Inqubus lit up a cigar as he witnessed the mysterious events that unfolded on the monitor before him. Inqubus was intrigued, to say the least.

“Come back to bed”, beckoned one of Inq’s "stimulacra" bodyguards.

His eyes remained fixed on the monitor, but Inqubus could hear the three “women” writhing on the silk sheets of his enormous water bed. “Playtime will have to wait.”, he replied over his shoulder. “It looks as though our ol’ pal Pyraci is in possession of somethin’ that I may be able to help unburden him with… for I am kind.    heh heh”, he chuckled as he inhaled cigar smoke.

Through the monitor, Inqubus watched Pyraci return to the Cenobite. Pyraci suddenly paused. Slowly rising to his feet, Inqubus moved closer to the monitor screen as  Pyraci slowly turned towards the camera until he was seemingly staring directly at Inqubus.

“That’s a nifty trick, Pyr” he said to himself. “How the Hel…” he cut himself off as the monitor went dead and filled with static.

Inqubus stood silent for a moment and then with a smoke filled grin mumbled, “Interestin’…   heh heh

I got tired of just roamin' and bummin' around,
So I started thumbin' my way
Back to my old hometown.
You know I made quite a few miles
In the first couple of days, and I
Figured I'd be home in a week if my
Luck held out this way...
