I always wanted this when i was running PeaceKeepers.
There was nothing worse than having to mail captains / Firstmates that dissapeared.
So the crew mail.. is that to your own crew only?

Yes, to your crew only. It also sends it to yourself. If you notice on the email you get back, the email system has automatically changed "Crew" to all of the members names. So, if you hit reply to all, it puts all the crew members in your To: field.
So, if you are trying to get a crew roster from your captains and they are lazy and dont want to type out each name, have them send a test crew mail and then in the one they recieve, hit reply to all, then erase all the names in the To: field and have him put your name. Then when you get the email, you will see all the names of their crew in the email header! It sounds more complicated than it is.

Now that's handy, thanks Hydra.
oooooh this is a good idea, i can send a email to all my inactive faction m8s haha
I would surmise that the reason for a lack of faction mail while crew mail exists is simply a database thing. Crews seem to have a different structure than factions in the programming. So while the email system can easily access your character's "Crew" data, it may have a harder time digging up faction data, or may do so inaccurately.
This has been spoken about before, the entire faction control panel needs a revamp its so plain.
These are some of the things i think should be added alone.

Yes, all that for Christmas from our dev's would be great!

ya, but who has 50 man crews? the faction mail is not a bad ideea tho, only thing is, i'd rather see an append + withdraw objects from e-mail without taking them all/ recreating the e-mail update.
the append feature would be very very nice escpecially for those that like to keep inventory clean or carry extras or collect. You can already double click a item to withdraw a single item from emails so should be easy to allow the reverse.

I wouldn't say it'd be easy to do the reverse. Double clicking takes a single item out from a sent e-mail that's fair enough but the other way round would append items to an already sent and paid for e-mail. I don't think the mail system would allow for a single item to be sent (remember it's an e-mail system not a storage system, thus paying for the item as you would by e-mailing items to yourself) then magically attach itself to an existing e-mail in your inbox.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it's unlikely to be as simple as made out to be.
