Supposedly  Scientist have Solved the first big Step into finding a cure for the comon cold they have now a genetic map for the Virus and they belive could come up with a Vaccine within 2 years if they get the right aprovials from the FDA.

this seems pretty intresting though i wonder how in the world they will be able to keep up with the suply but still this is big and i hope i can see something soon.

I fear that a cure for the common cold would only bring rise to a more formiddable virus. (later to be named the uncommon cold)

I thought the problem with the cold virus was that it mutates so quickly.  Wouldn't a genetic map be out of date by the time a vaccine was developed?

ya thats what I was thinking wasn't it that there is like a bazillion forms of the cold virus? maybe they found something they all have in common. It would be awesome to be over this cold (terrible dizzy headache that I've never had before) right now though.

All the news outlets are making this out to be more than it is.  It's not "close" just "closer", which isn't really close at all.  The cold virus mutates so rapidly and unpredictably that it would almost seem impossible to cure.  And by the way, getting a cold every once in a while isn't the most horrible thing for you.  You're immune system should get a work out every once in a while.
