I just got a laptop and put MXO on it. The graphics card doesnt even meet the requirments but neither did my old PC and I was still able to run the game.... it just didn't look to great. As soon as I turn the game on the mouse is dead. Pointer is stuck in the middle of the screen. I tried another mouse also... no luck. Any ideas? I wouldnt think the mouse wouldnt work due to the graphics card... but who knows. Anyone else ever have this problem due to a laptop or crappy vid card? thanks.

Two ways arround this, one easy one hard, both have the same outcome.

The hard (and quite fun if not slightly annoying) way:

The mouse isn't actually not working, it is working it's just you can't see it. If you keep moving your mouse to the bottom right hand corner of the screen, eventually you will see the icon become highlighted. Click on it, then move the mouse carefully (so you don't lose where the mouse is) until you can click on the windowed mode box. Tick there and you'll be able to play in windowed mode without a problem.

The easy way:

Navigate your way to the game directory and look for a file called options.cfg and open it. Run a search to see whether a line which starts with Windowed. If it finds one change it from Windowed = 0 to Windowed = 1

If the line doesn't exist, add the line Windowed = 1 to the bottom of the file.

Have fun SMILEY

Thanks. I added the windowed = 1 and the mouse works now! Any idea why it doesnt respond while in full screen?

Are you running the game under Windows XP?  If so, make sure it's updated to Service Pack 2.

You answer your question as to why it won't work in your second sentence.

The graphics card doesn't meet the requirements. I think at the time it was something to do with the graphics card not supporting DirectX 9c fully, but I know I had the same problem on my own laptop which had an integrated graphics card, which I'm guessing is the same in your case. SMILEY

I know the graphics card doesnt meet the min requirements. I just dont understand why when the game is full screen the mouse doesnt work yet when its windowed.... everything works fine.

Oh right. I think thats something to do with Windows drawing the mouse pointer or something like that, never thought of that actually. I just know it works. SMILEY

Have you tried forcing compatibility to Windows 2000 or ME in the application properties?  More can be found about this, here.

Keep in mind that I'm just grasping at straws here.  If the video card isn't 100% compatible, then we may be punching a mountain.
