With a cool tip I got from Transmissioner, I got this scanline effect, which I think gives a bit more depth and uniqueness to tv shots and such.

This is the original piece I did of a friend to use for a faction live event:

Thanks, man. :smileyhappy: I can think of alot more places to go with this one. :smileywink:

your kidding me ....... its really very simple ....... basically its just some low opacity white and/or black lines, with a ripple effect in them. honestly it would take all of 5 minutes to do that. But getting it to look good like that is another story.

I'm aware of how to do it, but as you said,

lol Thanks guys. I actually used spherize as opposed to ripple, but yeah it's a pretty simple technique. I just love the effects it has on pictures sometimes. That's why I want to play with it and see where I can take it.

Meanwhile, here's a wallpaper I did. I'm having WAY too much fun with this Ookami render lol :smileyvery-happy:
A slight variation from the other - I tried an inverted sphere this time, and set the pattern to color dodge:

Here's what I did originally:

Oh Sykin and Shadow, I can send you the PSD file if you guys want... :smileytongue:

I think I prefer static to scanlines, as far as tv effects go. Has anyone ever used both in an image? or would that be too taccy?

This sig I did for Espi is an example of what I did with both in one image. This was a while ago, though...

Trans' technique made me wonder though...what if this effect could be made into something more organic? Maybe used for something more than just monitor or screen distortion...?

at that sig: One of my favorite effects is rippling the noise layer.. If you're into the whole "messy" style, you'll like it.

But as far as the effect being more organic; usually scan lines are only used for stuff like that, but there are always possibilities.
