I've done about 30 missions in a row now, tried all of them a couple times, got a few criticals, and my rep still won't rise, in fact it lowered 3 points after a mission.I can't get any new criticals because I can't raise my rep, or so I'm told. Thanks in advance for the help.

Yeah, it is weird, doing standard missions solo rarely gives you any rep. Usually the only time I get rep from standard missions is when you do them witha mission team. Try that.

Weird, because you use to get rep from every single last standard mission you did solo or on a team, well I hope that helps.

Thanks, it does. I doubt I'll ever get a team, it's weird because I just got 2 criticals since I posted that, I don't get it. But it still doesn't explain why my rep decreased.

I've got a level 10 character who I've been doing solo missions with.
It's a Merovingian character with 60 reputation points. On average I
think I get roughly 1 reputation point for Merv every 2 missions. Make
sure you're doing the correct organization's missions, and also if your
mission puts you up against members of your own organization avoid
killing them (I believe that used to be a factor, although it may have
changed recentley.)

Hope that helps.

Basically the system is set up so that the more reputation points you have, the less chance you have of getting an extra one. This is why when you have negative to about 60 reputation points you should get one per mission. But once over about 60, the chances of getting a point decrease via some sort of percentage calculation. For getting critical missions it was once stated that didn't need anything higher than 50.

Also remember that for new characters there are roughly 10 introductory missions (listed as criticals) and then about 7 to 10 seductory missions (also listed as criticals but awarded after the first "Meet Niobe" mission) once you've done those, you will get the standard missions. At this point any new criticals will either be storyline based (and awarded based on your reputation points - this is where you need 50 to be sure you get all 5 or 6 missions from the current set) the other critical missions (such as "Meet ...") missions are awarded based on reptuation and location. So if you're looking for a critical try starting missions in Richland, International, Westview and Downtown at various times while you play as there are a limited number of the "Meet ..." missions that always happen in set buildings. The last of which will be Downtown.

*** Edit ***

Concerning reputation point awards in missions, you currently get the chance of 1 point for your chosen org upon successful completion.

You will also lose 1 rep with the org *NOT* involved in the mission, and 1-3 rep with the opposing org depending on number of NPCs killed.

For example, you run a Zion mission against the masked men. There are 5 masked NPCs killed, you're rep awards will be something like this:

Zion 1 (if awarded), Machines -3, Merovingian -1

For Zion, Masked men count as Machines so the rep is lost with them.
For Machines, I think Masked Men (if they appear in missions) is classed as Zion,
For Mervs, the Masked Men are classed as Zion as best as I can tell.

You did used to lose rep from killing members of your own org, even if they were hostile, but the last 5 or 6 times I've had that happen I haven't lost rep, so I think that issue may have been fixed/changed.

The Masked Men used to be classed as Machine, so those of us doing Machine missions against them actually lost rep with our own organization!

Sure did. Although I think it was patched out of the game shortly after it first came in.

No, not entirely true. While on the mission complete tab it's listed as "Masked Men -3" (for example) if you are Zion operative, this -3 is actually deducted from the machine rep. If you type /reputation you'll see that Masked Men are not listed.

Ahh ok. I was wondering if the game would actually remember how much
Rep we had lost with the masked men. Would probably annoy a lot of the
current "masked" players if the Cypherite Organization was added as an
official playable organization, except everyone's reputation with them
was in the negatives to begin with.

Then again that could have been an advantage to the game, meaning those
who wish to join the Cypherites really have to work towards it.

Either way, cheers for clearing it up chuui. Pretty good to know the
rep for masked men went against the machines instead (for zionites.)

No trouble. The rep system has been of great annoyance to me, especially as at one stage for my character I was supposed to be running with high rep for Zion and the Machines. Which is how I've come to know what Masked Men do to the Machine rep for Zion players. I did suggest several ways to improve this to the dev team (via feedback) but like most feedback, it probably just got filed away...

I don't like the way it is now either. I stopped doing standart missions after they began to lower my reputation with both other 2 organizations. Though I think they intentionaly have done that - some of the early beta interviews stated that "working for two or more organizations will be possible but extremly difficult" as it is now.

I know - its a shame as I started by trying not to have a negative machines rep but as a zion operative - my thinking try not to upset the machines to try and preserve the peace!

But this now seems nigh on impossible SMILEY
