I think that if the W's would release the rights to WB for a tv series based on this, it would be a kick-@$# show! I have had this idea in my head for a long time, and I am really interested in what my fellow MxOers would come up with.

What era would it be set in, before Neo or after? If post-Neo, would it take MxO as canon? Would it follow a younger Morpheus? A younger Oracle? What cast? What would the pilot episode look like?

It would suck.

Not because of any lack of action or that it wasn't true to the story line but because I don't believe it would be possible for the producers and writers (unless the W bros decided they wanted to write it) to fill its story with the same amount of depth the trilogy had and keep the ratings up. As we have seen already any exploration into the deeper workings of the Matrix world would be lost to the same crowd that couldn't understand the sequels and thought they were crap. Also you could pretty much kiss any spiritual or philosophical content goodbye like we have had to do with MxO. Thus it would pretty much just be a show trying to bank off of the name alone which outside this game and community there really isn't enough of a following.

That all said if it was to be done I would rather see it set before Neo and start with Morpheus' first meeting with the Oracle and continue on till he finds Neo.

I'd love to see another Animatrix, with new shorts on the back stories of some of the characters we don't know a whole lot about, eg. Seraph, the Merovingian... how about the Effectuator and how he got to be so cool?

It would be much more interesting to see Short stories about the Matrix universe instead of a continuing storyline is what I think would pique an audience attention to understand the matrix as a whole. or maybe do another type of Animatrix and/or use different Medium again just to get people's attention to it.

Something like a straight to DVD prequel of pre-Neo, or something along the lines of another animatrix would be nice.

I'd like to see the comics animated in some way.

We all agree a fourth movie would be too way much, right?

I like the short stories idea, like the Animatrix. I don't think a serialised TV series would work. Of course, if they let me choose the actor to play the great Procurator, I might change my mind.

Doing something like this would be like when an old rock band reforms and releases something utterly rubbish.

Everyone goes "oh no!!", buys the record for purely nostalgic reasons and your left with this horrible feeling inside that you remember the good old days.

The Matrix Trilogy should be left as it is.  Thats why we all love it like we do.. thats my thoughts anyway.

Oh, I don't know, I could see a weekly series come out of it. After all, that's what our storyline is, with nightly episodes even.

I could see a pilot episode that starts with Morpheus' awakening, when he's just a kid. He hasn't taken his nom de guerre yet, in fact he doesn't speak much at all as a boy. Maybe he witnessed a traumatic event as a bluepill kid (hmm, that could be something that sets up the Cypherites pre-dating Cypher himself).

In the pilot, we jump from a glimpse of Morpheus' life as a newly-awakened kid in Zion to him as a young man, just having joined a hovercraft crew and starting operations inside the Matrix. At the end of the pilot, he meets the Oracle for the first time and she tells him he will find the One, which sets the stage for all of his (weekly) adventures after that.

A weekly series allows the writers to explore in depth the backstories of Morpheus choosing his name, how he came to captain the Nebuchadnezzar, how he met Trinity and the rest of the Neb crew, as well as some (slight) exploration of the other primary Matrix figures such as the Oracle, Seraph, the Merv, Agent Smith. The fifth One. . .

Weekly episodes also allow for more new story. Maybe they incorporate some of the stories from the comics in the series. Maybe they introduce new characters; martyrs who sacrifice themselves for Morpheus' belief, turncoats who secretly work as The Masked, maybe even characters who were more instrumental in finding the One than Morpheus himself.

And of course, there is the whole "how he found the One" story. That in itself would be worth watching. All of this would lead up to the beginning of The Matrix, much in the same way Smallville has led up to the Superman legend.

I would only watch it if the Wachowski's were heavely involved.  I think the other problem would be casting.   There is no way you're gonna get Larry Fishburne, Keanu  and the rest of the cast on TV...unless all of their Big Screen careers simultaneously flop.

I'm up for anything Matrix though, truth be told.  It would be wonderful if future Matrix "stuff" was directed towards MxO...

I can agree with this one with you ShiX. I could see a weekly show based around the search for Neo. The series would start out with Morpheus and the beginning of the Nebuchadnezzar and the crew. Therefore the next few seasons could end up showing how Morpheus became so intuned with searching for the One and the prophecy from the Oracle. It would also explain and show Niobe and Morpheus being in a Relationship and them splitting once Morpheus focused on the Prophecy and the search for the One.

Each character had their own story aboard the Nebuchadnezzar that can be revealed. And of course since they will be younger, they will not be played by the usual Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Ann Moss, Hugo Weaving, Joe Pantoliano, ...ect.

Trinity: How did she accept the fact that the Oracle told her she will fall in love with the One. (I'm sure it would play a bit more emotional, but I don't have enough estrogen in me to elaborate on this more)
Cypher: He does end up liking Trinity, right? - Also he begins to doubt taking the Redpill because we all know what he did in the first movie. Wouldn't it be nice to see how he REALLY led up to those thoughts?

With the rest of the crew, we could see how they were awakened and such. I'm sure whoever that would be the director could add a bit more Epic-ness into the series, but I'm sure it can be done.

A good example for a REALLY GOOD movie turned series is the Terminator:Sarah Connor Chronicles. This show is amaxing.

I think if this would come. It would be amazing!

If the people who write and produce Lost turned their creative talents on The Matrix, I bet they would make a fantastic, ground-breaking show. And the popularity of the Matrix movies would bounce back in a big way, including popularity in this game.

But alas, Warner Brothers has put it all in the attic to collect dust, and SOE muddles on with what little resources and contractual elbowroom they have left.

I think its a great idea... SMILEY They should do something like that... However it should be more like Heroes. So like the first season will be discovering what they can do. Second season is showing each organization and power. Third season should be another big war, peace and continuation. During all this; Bad become good/good become bad and lots of main characters dying through out the series. I think having a TV Show based on "The Matrix" is an excellent thing to do!

I'd like to see stories about the "Heaven" and "Hell" Matrix.  I'd also like to see stories about Seraph, Merv, and maybe even the first "One".
