Not really a suprise, I guess most of us were just waiting for this news to be made "official".

Good luck with whatever your doing Paul Chadwick, and thanks for the time you did put in, even if we as players expected/wanted/wished for more from you.

The echo of my own sentiments.

I wonder if this means Rarebit's getting a raise considering he'll be doing more...

I think we'd all like to think so... who knows though.

I think people now look forward to chapter 10 (which'll be the first time without cinematics I presume, unless there's some already done) to see what you get from the sentinel paper

Good luck Paul.  Is there an archive of those mxo blogs he used to do?  (The Cryptos one and The General one)

I'm glad he's gone. He took the matrix out of the matrix and turned it into a MARVEL or DC comic. Rarebit is more matrix-minded so no loss. If what I said isn't appropriate, tough ****. Ingus isn't here to be loved SMILEY<img src=" />

I'm 50% surprised and 50% not surprised.  Surprised only because the new construct was done well and I am seeing quite a few new redpills inside.  Then this happens.  I don't blame any DEVS past, present or future, nor do I blame SOE entirely.  The game was doomed from the get-go.  Maybe my optimism has been misplaced.  Maybe MxO is still a beautiful sinking ship and Paul decided jumping into a lifeboat would be a good idea.  I'm sure any work he has done or is going to do will be well advertised and easy to get your hands on as opposed to MxO...I see two very big losses here and one tiny possible nugget of gain.

I think Paul's work was great and I know it all would have (maybe still will) had all lose ends tied up eventually.  You can't expect a linear storyline for the Matrix with the Wachowski's involved.  Might as well order a pizza in line at Kentucky Fried Chicken.  I'm also surprised some people didn't like the comic like feel of the story.  That is how the Wachowski's mapped out all of the movies.  They love comics.  We are all "Superheroes".  For those of you out there who don't like comics I hope you know they are not just for kids.  Dig a little, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

As far as stories go, I usually pay a writer/author money for them, not a game DEV.  I'm going to remain skeptical about all of this for a while.  Rarebit is a hard working person no doubt, but I'm sure even he understands what I mean.  New novel by Stephen King or Rarebit...?  Vice Versa.  I don't want an MMORPG developed by Stephen King either.  I would buy a book written by Rarebit if it was about his career and the work he has done with some tutorials etc.  That I'd find interesting.

I want to thank Paul Chadwick for being one of the people who tried to make this MMORPG everything it should have been.   He is one of the people who worked on this game  that many of us are passionate about  and that is one of the things that have inspired me to learn more about video games and the work that goes into them.  Tip of the hat to you Paul Chadwick and thank you for replying to my email to you some time ago concerning this very topic.

What, no more cinematics?! Grrr...

With what little content we see every so many months I can't imagine that it really took that long to develop. With so many up-and-coming illustrators/animators, etc. you must be joking if you don't believe you can continue on fan support alone.

To say that Chadwick's comic book style is not "of the matrix" is ridiculous. The W bros would laugh at you (like we are).

So what are we looking at Dan? If you're going to give us the straight poop, why not all of it?

I for one would be very curious to look behind the curtain and see exactly how many levers there are, and how many are pulling them. I've donated to other sites so why not this one.

A brief P&L with subscriber base will suffice. This MMO is pretty much a club endeavor anyway...so why not?

Sincerely,

Ward Massey
