The easy answer is that, while you are leveling, you'll want a mixture of abs to help level faster, such as hacking, lock-picking, mission map and sneak.

PvP is pretty well varied these days, and pretty fairly balanced (although, there are some issues with Master Knife Throwers, still). MA's dominate in IL, Hackers dominate out. Gunmen and MKT's are a good mixture of both, and those really skilled in those can destroy their enemies in 1vs1.

So, I guess it's all up to the class you feel most comfortable playing. But the really cool thing is that, now, we have a stat-hack grant that you can win from a mission. Don't like being a hacker anymore and want to switch to MA? Just re-stat yourself with MA stats and go for it!
