I'm in entire agreement with Shinryu's statement.

So if the person jumps far enough away to disappear into the ball of light, does their contrails disappear as well? Or will they stay on the four second timer no matter how far away?

I don't think we know about that one. I remember a certain rodent saying something about being able to jump, then jump back to where you started just before landing, and I mentioned that to NoRepro, but he said he couldn't...repro it. But I don't know if he's ever had definite steps to follow for it.

Wow.... I've been lowered down to the rank of a rodent.  Well, anyways I sent a /ccr in as a bug on that ctrl+space hyperjump exploit.  I'll send another in again or if NoRepro wants a detailed description you can just send him my way.  I'll be in the small hole in the wall next to the Oracle's apartment.

They disappear right away if the person leaves the visible set (the "ball of light" effect plays when that happens), or if the person lands.

Nah, I don't get /ccr reports. It was a vague remark someone else made on the forums a little while back.

He was referencing ZippyTheSquirrel, from the "Ask a Dev" thread.

I like this addition, as it will help in chasing event characters, too. I just hope the details aren't too excessive.

Why did we opt for adding a trail to Hyperjump rather than getting rid of the Mario jump?

IMHO, this is stupid looking; and is it REALLY necessary to have them?

I can really feel the love for the Dev team on this thread SMILEY I don't think it's such a bad idea, most people won't notice for a while tho

Rarebit,

Easy repro of the hyperjump that they're talking about.

Remap hyperjump to an easier button to push (I have it with "R"SMILEY.
Hold down "R" to begin hyperjumping. About half way through release and you are able to stop in midair and fall staight down.
You can also return to the point that you origionally jumped from by tapping the "R" button fast. Each time you press the button after you first released it, you will move backwards. Press it enough and you are back from where you first jumped from.
The whole time, you're 5 sec or so trails will correctly show the direction but if they do what I said above they can trick enemies even more now.

I imagine that is something that is not supposed to happen and has more than likely been /bug'd many times.

Meh, i think they look ok. I definately understand the justification. But from player response it seems this is a very sensitive and widely used area with a lot of close discussion needed.

Just a temporary solution until data mining tracking abilities i hope.

Well Ive been tracking without face just like I used to from before for a while now, but this is something, however quick thing, and please say yes. IF I have "effects = None" selected, it wont show the trails right? otherwise you just messed up screenshots and video editing for a lot of ppl.

For those that want to remove the "Mario Jump", as you like to call it, there are many folks in this game that do not like to PvP, and do not PvP.  This "Mario Jump" is a HUGE time saver for running missions, and is essential in getting around the city fast.
