As inappropriate a greeting as it is, good evening,

You can call me Preacher White. I'm a visiting pastor at the Camon Heights Memorial Church, and a few days ago, I was delivered a sealed letter and a request to hold a funeral on March 5th. As it just so happens, that day is tomorrow.

The person I have been asked to hold the funeral for is a man who goes by the name "Neoteny." Recently, after speaking with a few persons standing near the benches a small ways away from the sanctuary, I was informed that this man died within the past hour or so.

It is a shame to see a child of God has passed from this life to the next so certainly soon in their life, and, so far as I've been aware, so terribly mysteriously.

The only other detail I have been given about this man is that he was, apparently, a "terrorist" of sorts. As this word is bantered around quite a bit in this day and age, I am hesitant to accept it at face value from one source. Even if it is true, at this point, we must come together to mourn the loss of one of God's creations - whether for better or worse.

I will do my best to hold a service tomorrow, March 5th, at approximately 5 PM local time, though it would be greatly appreciated if members of the community, especially family or friends, if this man had any, would be willing to come with something to say.

At the end of the service, I will read the sealed document as I have been asked.

If you have the time, please try to attend and help lay this wayward soul to rest.

Respectfully,

Preacher White
Camon Heights Church

A letter written on old-fashioned looking black-edged stationary

Dear sir,

I was a near-witness to this man's death, and I regret to say that the Gospel adage came true, that "Those who live by the sword, die by the sword". I am in the employ of an ex-patriate French billionaire as a courier and a bodyguard, but I've been using much of my time and pay to help alleviate some of the damage "Neoteny" caused. I adopted three teenagers who were orphaned by his actions. I may not be able to attend since I have some very pressing business to take care of, but no doubt a member of my extended family will.

Sincerely,

Mercedes Fischer

The citizens of the simulation can breathe a sigh of relief that this rabid animal has been put down.  I won't be there to pay my respects, but to make sure he's really dead.

Might I take this conjuncture to remind everyone the definition of a funeral.

Main Entry:
2funeral
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle English funerelles (plural), from Middle French funerailles (plural), from Medieval Latin funeralia (plural), from Late Latin, neuter plural of funeralis, adjective
Date:
circa 1512

1: the observances held for a dead person usually before burial or cremation

Observances that are normally in Honor of the deceased. Hence my point comes..

If you do not have respect for the deceased, do not attend a funeral. As much as many disagree with the mans actions, his goals, or his actual.. damage, He still had been but a man at one time and had/have people who love and respect him. When any family member, or rather faction member, goes astray, it is hard on everyone. But you never stop loving someone who is estranged, no matter how severe their actions may be.

In short, due to my inability to attend I would like to pay my respects to the man that Neoteny was, and my condolences that his estranged path couldn't be mended. I am glad that his reign is over, I simply wish his stoic spirit could have been edged towards resolution.

Regardless, that is all I have to say on the matter. Good day.

If only more people would have followed by your example instead of taking the opportunity to stand front and center and push their agendas.

Can't you just keep your mouth shut when it's someone else's turn to talk?  Nobody interrupted you when it was your turn.

Everyone was fine, except for Sieges, MetaLogic and Illyria who couldn't show the same respect they were being given.

That's the problem with trying to "honor" such a disreputable, controversial person publicly.  You might as well send personal invitations to all of his enemies to take turns spitting on him.

Perhaps they were merely showing him the same respect he showed all of his victims.  Pity I was too busy to make it to broadcast depth...

While I can't argue with Tranque definition I do have to side more with Garu on this one. If you truly wanted to honor this person, then a private ceremony would have been more to the point. On another note, it is nice to see that some bonds are forged in the matrix that cannot be broken.

I'm curious though.  What was in the sealed document?
