Is there any reason why you can have players of a different org on the same server on one account in mxo?

In most mmos this is strictly forbidden because of all of the loopholes it opens...

I was annoyed when the servers were condensed from nine to three, especially considering the point you make above. For me, it completely ruined what MxO beta and launch RP was all about: the security of information within factions and organizations.

There used to be operations organized by faction leaders to implant spies into a hostile faction, in order to gain intel on the storyline. Those operations had meaning, value, and made RP feel more intricate and involved. After the mergers, anyone could simply create an alt and get the job done themselves, without having to pay another individual off. There's no turning back from it now, as we don't have a large enough population to warrant another server, but MxO just hasn't felt the same to me ever since. The game was what it was because of the existing sense of espionage which was present in a darker, more realistic Matrix world.

Although, I would love to see them open up a server where we can only have 1 character, which would force FFA at certain points in the storyline... or even better, a server which pulls through on the original claims of what an MxO server was going to be like: passive until the truce became shaky, which would result in all the servers being forced into PvP (obviously altered since the truce no longer exists).

Here's how I see it,

We have an ongoing storyline with not much to do in between each event that we get on our server. Because of our storyline, this makes MxO a prime place for roleplay. Adding on to what Insertion said, I think the extra character slots was to compensate for the server merge that took away those extra slots you had outside your server. Because of our dev-team situation, there's only so much they can do for each organization. This leads to being bored if you're a 50 and have already gotten all the new/old content. This leads to...

Players want to participate in events because, basically, that's the only thing going for people who are bored and are looking for something new. Those extra slots allow us more characters which means we can get to more events. Back when Monolith was in control, there was a sufficient amount of people working on the game, so the need/want to switch organizations wasn't there because you always had a chance of meeting a LET character, more updates, etc. Now that we are down to a minimal amount of devs, they have to make due with what they have.

The real answer SMILEY :

  • They knew that players would probably want to experience new situations/missions
  • MxO is Roleplayer's dream
  • Content changes slightly for organization/players want equal treatment
  • Races/Species swapped for organizations

I hope that made sense?..    Kinda? SMILEY

EDIT: It looks like the multiple character per accounts thing worked for CoH/V and SWG. Also, since many MMOs have a race/species thingy, that maybe that could be something to add?

EDIT x2: Now I can think. Other games have races/species while we have organizations.

You're talking about WoW's PvP server thing, right? I remember that.

Variety?

The real answer is that during the merge players with characters on different servers that merged would have had to "choose" which one to keep.  Instead they opted to merge servers and characters to one.  The result, 3 slots per server whether used or not.

Espionage roleplay further lost it's meaning when Rarebit began posting every live event on DN1 for all to see.

heres how i see it to with the removal of the LET team  one player will get atleast one event a week maybe a slim chance of two on there server for there org  before hand it was much beter we could talk to our org leaders and get the scoop of whats going on.  Now on the other hand the the idea with 3 servers we get at least a chance to see what is going on throw all 3 orgs and still have a good idea of whats going on in the story line as well from the diff orgs.   The only draw back i think it brings up is spys and stuff like that but i dont see a problem if people wanna get a scoop of whats going on on all servers or that as long as there not using against there org.  Also if you are a heavy pvp it gives you a chance if its to much of one org to go in and have a better shot to. I  really dont think its that big of a deal  just that one defaault i stated before.

Yeah as Nubi stated about pvp, helpin the side that has lower numbers, thats the reason why I'v got a char in each org. Not all 50 yet mind u. My merv will always b my main but always good to kill people u normally team with SMILEY but what i do try and do is not attack the factions i am currently in, main and alts, unless its hectic pvp or they attack me first SMILEY

That's what players and summaries are for. We don't need intricate details of every event. The days when there were rumors ran amok created mystery and THAT was part of what made this game fun. The advent of posting every LE was a post-SOE thing.

And don't you have faction chats to be posting on your site?

I can see your point on the FC to an extent I talked to External about it at FF but honestly Im pretty sure thats an isolated incident as far as Archival Science goes.

You dont know how many times even someone as big into the story as me has used Archival Science as a simple refference point not just a "I want to learn ur uber secrets and pwn ur RP site"

I have hooked Othin up before and he has been nothing but systematic and classy about it.

I think all players benifit from a logging of the story given the small population of the game now.

I'm just saying it all shouldn't be on DN1. If a player wants to know EVERYTHING, he or she should have to do a little digging is all.
