At the end of the pilot, he meets the Oracle for the first time and she tells him he will find the One, which sets the stage for all of his (weekly) adventures after that. A weekly series allows the writers to explore in depth the backstories of Morpheus choosing his name, how he came to captain the Nebuchadnezzar, how he met Trinity and the rest of the Neb crew, as well as some (slight) exploration of the other primary Matrix figures such as the Oracle, Seraph, the Merv, Agent Smith. The fifth One. . .Weekly episodes also allow for more new story. Maybe they incorporate some of the stories from the comics in the series. Maybe they introduce new characters; martyrs who sacrifice themselves for Morpheus' belief, turncoats who secretly work as The Masked, maybe even characters who were more instrumental in finding the One than Morpheus himself. And of course, there is the whole "how he found the One" story. That in itself would be worth watching. All of this would lead up to the beginning of The Matrix, much in the same way Smallville has led up to the Superman legend.I can agree with this one with you ShiX. I could see a weekly show based around the search for Neo. The series would start out with Morpheus and the beginning of the Nebuchadnezzar and the crew. Therefore the next few seasons could end up showing how Morpheus became so intuned with searching for the One and the prophecy from the Oracle. It would also explain and show Niobe and Morpheus being in a Relationship and them splitting once Morpheus focused on the Prophecy and the search for the One. Each character had their own story aboard the Nebuchadnezzar that can be revealed. And of course since they will be younger, they will not be played by the usual Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Ann Moss, Hugo Weaving, Joe Pantoliano, ...ect. Trinity: How did she accept the fact that the Oracle told her she will fall in love with the One. (I'm sure it would play a bit more emotional, but I don't have enough estrogen in me to elaborate on this more)Cypher: He does end up liking Trinity, right? - Also he begins to doubt taking the Redpill because we all know what he did in the first movie. Wouldn't it be nice to see how he REALLY led up to those thoughts? With the rest of the crew, we could see how they were awakened and such. I'm sure whoever that would be the director could add a bit more Epic-ness into the series, but I'm sure it can be done. A good example for a REALLY GOOD movie turned series is the Terminator:Sarah Connor Chronicles. This show is amaxing. I think if this would come. It would be amazing!

I'd love to see series that take the events from MXO as canon but I doubt it'll interest the rest of the world. So by a marketing point of view I'd go with series set way before Morpheus was even born. Perhaps just after the end of the second renaissance and the launch of the first iteration of the Matrix, and continue from there.
Man, if I had the money I'd get the brothers W to write 20 episodes for each iteration till the 6th and end each iteration with a movie (or trilogy), for the epicness. That'd be 5 movies and 100 episodes of pure Matrixism. All accompanied by new Animatrix and a new MMO to go with the series, set in the same era.
Yeah, that'd be nice. =) I'll stop daydreaming now.

You guys still need to pick the cast.

I would watch a show that followed morpheus to the awakening of neo for sure.

I like that.
An issue I foresee in any attempt to make a TV series of the Matrix would be relating it to the movies. Not everyone who saw the movies follows the plot and the series religiously. It would have to appeal to a broader audience, and it's in implementing that where the studios make the most mistakes.
Such as making the series appeal to a 'younger' audience. *Shudders.*
I say "no". Three movies, Enter the Matrix VG, The Animatrix and two comic books is frankly enough IMHO.
What we have now with MxO is the best way to keep the story going, and I think it should remain the only way too. But IF some sort of TV series comes to be done (which I seriously doubt), it would be imperative to involve Rarebit (and maybe Chadwick) into writing the story and the screenplay for it. Without doing so the integrity of the Matrix Universe would be ruined forever.
And when I look at the mentioned above disastrous TV series "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles", I can only wish that nothing like this ever happens to the Matrix franchise. Sincerely.
