I think I'll follow this. I, for one, hope it has nothing to do with the storyline that Rarebit laid out for us. I hope it starts where we left off and goes in a different, better direction.
At least someone's doing something to keep us all entertained.

Yup.
Do it yourself.
Pen & Paper MxO FTW!!!!
"Accelerated Unlimit hits you for 18 damage."
Shadow Run.
Or rather, Shadowrun, another popular pen-n-paper RPG.

Still, I agree with Fen, I'll pay attention to this. We'll see what's what soon enough.
I'll see how it goes but I doubt I'll be supporting it.

I thought the same thing when I saw it as well.
Now that would make a good MMO.....if microsoft wern't such big idiots about it.
If this "chapter 13" plays out like a shadowrun style setting (which fits into the matrix style of play nicely) it should be good
So you will be supporting the offical story line as done by the dev team.............oh wait.........yeah about that. Have fun doing nothing
Yeah, will definately be watching but will most likely ignore if its by people who think we should just flat out ignore the story Chapter 12+ was leading into. Change and make their own maybe but not just ignore and blaze their own "perfect" story they think everyone wants.
Basically, if Morpheus or Neo return first chapter, I'm out.

Slightly tweaked.

Precisely why some people are skeptical. In other threads about the storyline and player collaborations there was a lot of disagreements because everyone has their own view of the story up til that point and how they think it should continue.
Saying Chapter 13 suggests a follow on from chapter 12 of the official storyline, whether they actually mean to suggest that their continuance is official or not (many people will not view it as such anyway unless A Dev or Walrus confirms it is).
Besides, another group could bring out their own Chapter 13 and have it play out completely differently. Personally I don't feel that having title and chapter number is absolutely necessary, but thats just me.
Still, we'll see how they introduce it and how well it's thought out and written, perhaps it will be a complete success or perhaps it'll simply be an exercise in god modding.
After all, I don't see anything else happening in game beyond the usual.
The only problem I see with this, is that there are like... three different player groups who want to take on the official storyline. I think players creating the official storyline is a bad idea, simply because no one is ever going to agree on which storyline is the right one. *shrug* That's the MxO community for ya.
I agree. Getting a player-run official storyline is going to be close to impossible. Especially given the divisions in this game. But I'm all for playing along. Like you said, what else is there to do?
In all honesty, I have no issues with following all three versions of the storyline (or more if there so happen to be more). I'm here to participate and interact. Not chase after the ex-canon story in the hopes of being a part of something a few people may read on Wikipedia and see as the continuation of the trilogy.
Oh well, my motto has always been to make other's RP more important than my own. What the he11.
But I better not get phone calls at 3am. . .
Unless it's Morpheus.

Nope, it's me too. It may seem like a trivial complaint, but calling it Chapter 13 was a bad move from the off.
My take on things is pretty simple but forgive me if I mention things that have been brought up and/or discussed previously, as I've payed no attention to 'the future of the mxo story' threads started by players since Rarebits departure.
It's been obvious, from both the past and the present that not all player events both big and small, hyped and non-hyped, will be hampered by whether people can accept it as 'official' or 'canon' and whether the events can actually capture the imagination.
The fact the storyline is now 'in our hands' says to me that any attempts by any group made up of whatever members to make an 'official' storyline that everyone follows would be doomed to failure. There should be multiple groups dreaming up events and carrying them out, and in the process of doing so, there should be conversations open between the runners of said event teams on what their plans are for the future so that if anything major comes up it should be discussed as to whether the story can proceed with said major storyline. If the sides don't agree or can't incorporate the others story changes into their events or storyline or whatever, then they should drop the idea of the major storyline or change it.
The point I'm getting at is that having one super-duper-all conquering player storyline will not work. Having many from different outlets would surely be the only way to keep peoples interests and keep things fresh.
Also, I'd have to agree with Croesis and Proc.
In any case, it is something I will not be following as my subscription will be running out in about a weeks time. However, good luck to those who have taken the time to try.
Edit: Also, just for secrecys sake, if this group of event planners are trying to be all hush hush secret like, they might want to host teaser images and sigs on seperate photobuckets accounts. *COUGH*
