Thank you for your assistance, operatives. Preparations to compensate for the deteriorating weather conditions and continue the search for Mauser into the chasm on whose edge the gun was found are underway.

I understand that afterwards, Mr. Vogt organized a small group of volunteers to venture onto the surface in an attempt to locate the three crew members who were disabled during the operation. Captain Newport no doubt appreciates your efforts.

Efficiently,

Agent Gray

(( Man, I wish I could have been there. Another just plain clever event for the Syntaxian Machinists. SMILEY

How did you know when the crew members died though? I haven't read all the chat, but I couldn't see any notification of death, just people cursing when it happened.

Also, how did you navigate on the little site? http://01network.awardspace.com/explore/ Did Vogt update the page after every move? 'Cos I didn't see him give you new URLs during the event. ))

Well done to those who helped guide the crew through the Real. It can't have been easy, and we seem to be making headway.

Although I think we're wasting our resources following this guy around. It may be a mystery, but for goodness sake...

A nice event - great to see more of what was going on in the real and to have an actual view of what was going on in the real was even better thanks for cooking that up Rare et al. The glimpses into the storm and seeing human elements like that ladder and the lightning gun were very cool. The event was very intriguing as a whole and I'd love to see more like this in future.

Hmm. Organizing a search party, eh? Maybe a counter-effort is in order.

((Seriously cool event, though. Vogt seems to be coming up with cooler stuff by the day.))

The dead men were hit by the storm directly and could not be saved without hindering the rest of the crew.  The man who was hit at the end was close enough to the hovercraft to recieve first aid.  Duffie and Collbard directed Shinryu's recovery of the other three men, one of which managed to survive.

Yes, Vogt updated the page after every move so we only had to hit refresh.

Edit: Here, have a low quality bitmap indicating our path through the storm... more or less.

A post operation recovery party was quickly organised and executed as soon as storm activity died down enough to attempt it. Collbard and Duffie guided Shinryu and the crew of the Minotaur who recovered a survivor who was taking refuge under a rocky outcrop. That survivor is currently receiving medical assistance, the remaining two crew members were, unfortunately, found dead. I would like to personally thank Collbard, Duffie, Shinryu and his crew for making the attempt and I once again would like to extend my sympathies to Captain Newport and to the friends and any family of the crew members who died during this operation. Their bravery and stalwartness in the face of adversity is something to be proud of.

I hope the recovery of the weapon reveals some clues so that the courage of the 6 person team, and their losses, wasn't in vain.

((The lack of fighting/action shots doesn't pay tribute to how enjoyable this event actually was, it reminded me of the old text based games I used to play when I was younger. Great fun!

Procurator, when a person was struck we could see the location we were in and a cross in the middle of that square, plus there was an alert by the search party before the description of the area in each direction.))

Protecting the System is our duty. Defending humans in the pods is essential to our operations. But it's not everyday that thanks to the courage and efficiency of our men, we saved a life.

Those interested in seeing what operatives were working with can witness it themselves here: http://01network.awardspace.com/explore/. Buttons have been added to simulate the team's movement.

Despite the delay near the end, everyone did an excellent job of guiding the crew through their journey.  With only a couple turnbacks, they made great time.

However, the delay in the end was completely avoidable.  The crew was delayed due to our inability as a group to agree on one final maneuver.  Though the arguments had merit, egos exaserbated the situation, which cost Newport and his team.  I hope this serves as a valuable lesson that there is no place for bickering when other lives are on the line.

Myself and the crew of my ship, The Minotaur, were only happy to help in the recovery efforts.. it is unfortunate that all were not found alive, but at least the fallen will receive their deserved honours.  Thanks to Duffie and Collbard for guiding us well and keeping us safe.

((That was one of the most brilliant events ever.  Genious.))

We lost two - nearly three - good men out there. I'm appaled at how quickly some people wrote them off for the sake of timing.

Shinryu, Collbard, Duffie - thank you again for going back for that survivor. Vogt, thanks for coordinating that rescue.

((I know that in this report in the second from last image you can only see the back, but what are the boots that Captain Newport is wearing? I'd love to get my hands on a pair and the female equivalent.))
