Hmm, wonder where they get all this tech from?

If the theory of a human colony that has been allied with the Machines since the end of the Second Renaissance is correct, then we're dealing with a group of humans that have not only been helped by the Machines, but haven't been wiped out at the end of every Matrix cycle.
Are you referring to the information uncovered in Merovingian missions, I'd kinda thought that maybe Halborn and Carlyne had something to do with that, or is there something else you're referring to?

I don't know what was said in the Merovingian missions.  I was referring to the information from Hypatia.
Ahh, thanks for that - I really need to read General discussion more often!! Hmm, human colonies allied or affiliated with the Machines before the war is more than possible and there were more than a few humans who stuck up for B166ER and his kind so that's feasible.

I can only remember vaguely, but there was some info found in Chapter 8 merv missions I think about the Machines removing people from the simulation for purposes unknown. I'll have to look up reviews to find out more, but I can't remember if anything came of it. Surely one of these two events has something to do with Halborn and Carlyne, maybe they're even linked somehow.

Whatb I find a bit worrying is that there could be a whole bunch of wireframed dudes ready and waiting to cause havoc!

There are a number of possibilities concerning where Halborn and Carlyne are from.  Some people are saying that Halborn's people actually control the Machines; others believe that they're some kind of experimental colony set up by the Machines.  And some are saying that this "colony" made peace with the Machines at the end of the original war, and they've maintained diplomatic relations with them ever since.

Whatever the real truth is, it's bound to be interesting!

I've had another thought about the human colony idea.  Since there technology is so high, surely they have a way of removing the nanomachine clouds covering the planet?  Either they don't have a way of removing the clouds, or they do but they're keeping the planet shrouded.  Maybe because of the Machines?

I have a feeling that the Machines have some form of dependence on the human colony, and removing the clouds would relieve them of this dependence.

Thats an interesting theory actually and could tie in quite well with the whole matrix not being a decent power supply idea. Lets say the mountanious colony area has a big circle of light where the colonists have cleared the sky. The machines have an agreement with the humans there to supply them power in exchange for their continued safety and relative uninterfered living.

Hmmm... that certainly is an interesting theory, it certainly puts a new skew on the whole Machines winning the war and keeping Humans in chains. The ramifications of this idea being even slightly correct could be enormous for all concerned with the Simulation.
