Hi everyone! SMILEY

I just bought this game last night, ive registered up and everything. Now all i have to do is wait for the Patch to download, which has taken 15 hours to get halfway.. and then sadly it froze and i had to start it up again. I have a few questions to do with the game and these are

1) How long did it take for you to patch the game when you first bought it?

2) I heard you can pick which side you fight for, either the Machines or Zion, and was wondering how this would affect the game play e.g. being able to fight people from Zion if i picked Machines, and getting certain missions that i wouldnt be able to recieve if i picked the opposing faction.

3) Is there a large community? like do people get together at a certain place to chat and chill out?

4) Do you team mostly or is it set to be mainly soloing?

5) Can you pick how you fight? so i maybe could choose between Martial Arts or Judo (or maybe they are the same thing, but you get what i mean SMILEY)

I know i should have probably looked into ALL things before i purchased the game but after seeing clips of it i was very enthusiastic and wanted to play it right away. So i would appreciate any help i could be given

Many Thanks, Peace Out

Hi, firstly welcome to the Matrix.

Patching the game did'nt take long at all for me. Are you using the Station launcher? If so close it and open the matrix.exe and patch the game through that. It worked a hell of a lot faster for me. That station launcher is bad news.

Soloing in the matrix is a wonderful experience and grouping can be just as if not more fun. Some tasks will require grouping however you will only discover these towards endgame.

Personally, i play other mmo's and find myself playing Mxo more than anything else. The community is amazing. Props to all of you out there.

Choosing an organization and forming an allegiance in the matrix is a personal journey. Every mission from the beginning of the mxo chapters have been placed in archives can be purchased.  All previous missions for each organization can be expereinced giving you an amazing backstory in the development of Mxo.

Choosing abilities is also a unique part of Mxo. So many classes to choose from and adapt to as your experience in the Matrix grows. Unlike most other mmo's, it is only necessary to level one character to be able to use all skills and abilities in endgame. You may acquire all skills and simply change them with the click of a button, right now i have Kung fu *click* now im a duelist (guns) *click* now i am a hacker (viral, some great aoes too) etc.

If you roll a character on Recursion i would be more than happy to help you in any way i can.  Faction: Dark Infinity

There are far too many wonderful things about Mxo to list but you will soon find these out for yourself.

The Matrix has you.

1) I left mine to run over night.  The progress bar always looks like it's going to take forever but it's not as long as it seems.

2) The three main sides are Machines, Zion and Merovingian.  Each side gets it's own Critical/Storyline Missions and is hostile to the others where pvp is concerned.

3) The community is large enough to keep everyone busy but small enough that you'll get to know a good portion of us over time.  People mostly congregate at Mara Central, Tabor West and Camon Central.

4) Either play style is fine.  Although most content can be solo'd, much of it is a lot easier with a team.

5) There is a wide range of combat styles to choose from including Self Defense, Karate, Kung Fu, Aikido, Rifles, SMGs, and Handguns.

Cool, thanks alot guys, i appreciate the help SMILEY. I restarted the patch and its almooooooost done and it has only taken a couple hours this time around, dont ask me why :S. Also i think im going to go with Zion i like playing the 'rebels' on games. But whilst the patch is downloading i think ill refresh my mind of The Matrix and re-watch the DVD's to get me more excited, i can hardly wait! Im not sure what server ill be on though but i think ill be a 'kung-fu' kinda guy, how original right? lol. 2 more questions follow SMILEY

6) what exactly is the 'Merovingian' or will i find out when i start playing?

7) Is there much character customization that can help in making your characters more unique?

Many thanks again for your help, Peace Out!

After Completing so many missions from the starting ones. U will be notified from Agent Grey and Flood (Merv's Little Lackey) Then u will be able to select which side you would like to join. Each mission depending who your doing em for. Will gain you 1 rep point towards that Organization. And will also give you Negative points towards the other 2 Orgs.

But yes seek the merv. Live a life of wonderfull Treats and a sense of freedom. Merv all the way. If your on Vector  add me. /friend byond. Or on syntax. /friend by0nd.

The Merovingian is the leader of the exiles. Basically programs that the machines no longer have a use for, these programs are often told to return to the source to die so they defect. Many humans serve him too, although some do it for profit others do it for freedom and others do it for personal reasons.

I would personally if your new, play the starting missions for all 3 orgs, then decide what fits you best.

lol im all set, i picked the server sentax or syntax or whatever, 'Vector-Hostile' sounded dodgy SMILEY so i didnt pick that one. Its an awesome game! im about to decide who i want to be with, i think ill stick with Zion SMILEY. Do you ever get to see Neo on this game? like fight along side him, would be cool.

As far as story goes, Neo is still supposedly dead, so you don't get to fight alongside him. There have been all sorts of little events happened though that indicate he could still be around.

But in some of the missions you'll do, you get to meet people like Niobe, and Morpheus and Ghost.

Not to mention in live events, you'll also get to meet these people with someone actually playing the character SMILEY

6) The french guy in the movies.

7) You can customise everything about your character's appearance and change it later if you don't like it.

If you post your Handle here, I'm sure someone will come and help you out in-game.

Hmm thats cool, i want to do some live events, they sound fun SMILEY. I found it incredibly difficult to find a handle lol i tried so many names yet they were all taken SMILEY but i have one now which isnt too bad, hes called Zytex on the Syntax server, got him to level 5 and im about to make him go with Zion so if anyone wants to come join me or talk to me feel free as i could use all the help i get.

I hate that french guy in Reloaded too, im glad his wife betrayed him >SMILEY so im definately going with Zion as i want to face Agents later on which rules out going with the Machines.. i think. Oh also, the operator who guides you in your mission says that if you stay in a completed misison for too long, Agents can appear and try to kill you.. does this actually happen, i havent tried waiting yet as i'd sh*t myself if they apppeared lol

*edit* hey i was thinking of switching to the 'Vector-Hostile' server, i was wondering if this was fairly similar to a PvP server in WoW, if it is ill definately switch, but the thought of getting to level 6 again saddens me lol *edit*

Vector-Hostile flags you for permanent PVP at level 16.

I'll say it's better to make a decision early rather than later. If your level 30 and decide to try it ouch. I say just try it for a week, if you don't like it go back to Syntax or hell even Recursion as all three servers have there own MoJo.

Okay SMILEY ive always preferred PvP servers over normal ones... adds more realism to a game, but im guessing ill get killed by higher levels if i do this? lol

If you're not careless and stay on your toes, you can avoid being ganked most of the time. You will get killed by higher levels but if you avoid the high-traffic PVP hotspots you should be fine throughout most of your leveling. Not to say that you won't be hunted down from time to time, but it'll be nothing you can't handle.
