I've started to experience this problem when the entirety of SOE went down for that one day (the date eludes me). Anyway, when I log in using the launcher, it just kinda sits there for a moment. Sometimes, it says authentication time out. Other times, it just sticks on the version number and doesn't let me log in until I restart the launcher.
Everytime I get to the character select however, it takes FOREVER. I mean, at least 5 minutes. I click Roukan for example, and press select or whatever that button says and it sometimes loads. Other times however, the button stays blinking and if I click on the character the button dissapears, and I have to restart the launcher.
And no, I don't use Vista.

Anything else change arround that time Roukan that you know of?
Shouldn't be anything game wise thats changed and I haven't noticed any difference in the ammount of time it takes for me to log in. I have had a similar issue in the past with the button, except my launcher just crashed, no vanishing buttons (haven't had that for a while though which is surprising).
The obvious thing I would try first is just make sure that the launcher files are all intact by running a full system check. Check Phi's post here if you can't remember how to do both parts (I would type out my usual method but I'm feeling lazy tonight :p)
The other thing I would probably try is removing any firewall rules set up the launcher.exe and matrix.exe and recreate them giving full access to the internet and see how things go after that.

Up until recently something similar was happening to me, the launcher would stick at the launcher and client version. Occasionally it would time out with a server -47 error, others it would continue after a few minutes. Seems to be running normal now, possibly due, as you mentioned, to deleting the old rules in my firewall and recreating them...

Now it's getting to the point where I can't even log into any character but Roukan. No, I am not willing to reinstall. That patching takes forever and it's annoying.

Sounds to me like a file has gone corrupt somewhere. I would try the launcher patch.. ie the one before you accept the eula. It doesnt take very long atall.

Have you contacted Live support? If the files are corrupt then youd need to delete them first then patch. The patch will only look for files that are either out of date or not there.

Hey Roukie... are there any launcher error log files in your MxO directory? if so post them.
It sounds like it's stalling out during network activity. First reboot all you internet hardware (modem, router, hub, etc...) next reboot the computer Next do a full system check (both the launcher and the game files) : Running Full System Check if that hasn't fixed it then you may need to check your firewall software has rules for MxO registered correctly: Up to date port information for those with super tight firewalls (like me) If that hasn't fixed it then reinstall your firewall software (a much smaller download than an MxO reinstall) Last resort... if nothing else worked reinstall MxO and then make a backup to save you hastle in the future (back up your profiles folder and any .cfg files before the reinstall to save you any reconfig hastles): Backup... It's what's for breakfast
Let us know how it goes.

I did everything but the last one. Do not want. As I stated before, I believe, this started happening after that one day all of SOE went down. I did nothing to my computer that day except maybe change my xfire status.
Yeah I said it in the first post.

What's your Internet Explorer settings like at the moment?
You could try going to Tools -> Internet Options, Security and just try resetting all the zones to Default unless there is a good reason for one of them being changed from default.
Also, just try doing the following command in a command prompt (start -> run and type cmd) and see what happens:
tracert auth.station.sony.com

TBH Roukan I'm not sure where else to head with why it has started doing it.
All the obvious things I can think of you've discounted, if no drivers have changed and nothing else has changed then I don't know what else to suggets. The last thing I thought of might have been a routing issue, but since the tracert came back ok that kinda rules that out as well. You could possibly try doing it for whichever server before you load the game (so recursion.thematrixonline.com for example) and see what the result is. Still doesn't rally explain why every character everytime takes a long time to load.
I'll keep thinking though.
Sorry,
Jeffers

can you run the following commands from the command prompt and post the results like you did for the tracert:
ping -n 20 -4 auth.station.sony.com > c:\pingdmp.txt ping -n 20 -4 recursion.thematrixonline.com >> c:\pingdmp.txt ping -n 20 -4 syntax.thematrixonline.com >> c:\pingdmp.txt ping -n 20 -4 vector.thematrixonline.com >> c:\pingdmp.txt
The results will be in c:\pingdmp.txt (it will take a minute or 2 to run all of these)

My launcher has also become slow, it freezes right before it can finish the first line on the screen after clicking accept. It just started happening after last night's server (Syntax) mess.

Gerik... try the steps I have listed above for Roukan to try (don't reinstall your firewall).
If they don't help let us know
