Heres a question i been meaning to ask a long time. When i put all my games on my computer it slows down on the start up ALOT without games or programs on it .... before i  put the games and things on my computer after a fresh install of windows it loads up with in 30 - 45 seconds, but after i install all my games and programs it becomes slugish over time and gets slower. i only alow Anti virus to load up n start up and nothing else.

Does the computher get slow becuase of widows scaning the folders or somthing along that lines. is there any way to prevent this or would having windows installed on 1 hard drive and programs and games on the other be an advantage or soloution to it ? i am planning on reformating and  putting a fresh windows install on my comuter soon so i said id ask before i did, just to c if any 1 would recomend any thing.

Not sure where you are talking about it slowing up, actually as you turn on your pc on the black startup screen........
or are you talking about when you logged onto your useraccount (if applicable) and the actual desktop loads?

well im not expert.....but I know mine used to slow down consdierably if my desktop was full of icons....and you said you only got your viruslover programs on startup so that cant slow it down that much..

you ever defragged? or checked the disks for errors?

as after installing loads of games (which can take up 10's of gigs) its aways nice to defrag so the pc can read from the files quicker as they are in a certaint order..........(I think thats right)

but like I said im no expert at things like this SMILEY

best bet is to wait untll when of the techy doods to come along

Thanks for the tips 5hauntaylor88.  Defragging is good to do after multiple installs, and could cause long startups.  I noticed you say you are only booting with your AntiVirus running.  How did you disable the rest of the processes?  You may want to try running under a clean boot, as is described by Microsoft here.
