Tiberium is a new tactical first-person shooter video game title set in the Command & Conquer universe, currently under development at EA Los Angeles (EALA), the studio behind the Medal of Honor series and Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. The game features squad-based gameplay mechanics. It has been confirmed by a source with inside knowledge of EALA that the project is a "Renegade/Battlefield-style FPS". Tiberium was initially revealed when shots of the January 2008 issue of Game Informer was leaked, but was officially announced by EA just a day after. Prior to the announcement, the game had been in production for two years.
In the first previews of the game by GameSpot and IGN, it was confirmed Tiberium uses a game engine based on Unreal Engine 3.
On January 18, 2008, a trailer of Tiberium was released on GameTrailers with a message of more to come on January 25.
Eleven years after the Third Tiberium War, in 2058, a wasteland covers what was once the Mediterranean Sea. The player takes the role of Ricardo Vega (main character of the novel), a GDI field commander recently pulled out of retirement, who is exploring the single complete Scrin Threshold Tower called "Tower Omega" in this area. The tower is believed to be a relic from the Third Tiberium War but turns out to be the base of another Scrin invasion.
Unlike most other first-person shooter video games, it has been revealed that the player will only carry one weapon which can be changed to do different things. In the Interview with the person in charge of this project, it has been shown that the gun can be changed to have anti air, anti infantry and anti tank capabilities. The weapon is called the GD-10. It has four modes. The Mag-Rail mode is a rail gun carbine and it is used for taking out infantry. The grenade launcher mod shoots out grenades. Best used for taking out large squads. The player can also take out the grenades and use them as regular grenades. The energy cannon is like a mini Ion Cannon and is used to blast things apart and is a sniper weapon. It overheats with use. The MLS (Multi-Launch System) is good for taking out air units. The player can target up to four enemies and the MLS will shoot a missile that splinters to take out each target. There will be no weapon Heads-up display. Instead, the player has a hologram on their weapon to count the ammo.
after the relative "flop" of Renegade from Westwood Studios (I still play it)

This game has been canceled, for not meeting EA's "quality standards."...I'm going to go cut myself now.
Yeah, lame that it was cancelled. But re: C&C3 being average:Yes. But that was more than made up for by Kane's Wrath. The global conquest mode, plus the use of differing sub-factions allowing for complete tactic mix-ups, really did a lot to add depth.
