Sorry in advance if this question has been answered somewhere else, and thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer nicely. (I've had problems on forums with people who would rather take the time to read the question and then post complaining about how the person didn't do a search and find the question answered somewhere else than just answer it there.)
I am rather constantly being attacked in the International and Westview areas by Agents, but more importantly.. in areas that were previously restricted that I used the access key at to make them NOT restricted. I was sortof under the impression that the entire point of doing so was to make that sortof thing not happen.
Now while I understand that being chased by a level 50 or so agent at lower levels can be a fun, intense gameplay mechanic, and at higher levels make you feel cooler because now you're strong enough to actually take them on instead of running... Being regularly chased by level 100 agents (and on one occasion, a level 255 or something "Agent Jones" or whatever his name was) who kill me in two shots and never miss is not really fun at all. This is an otherwise decently-made game and I'd like to think the developers had more sense than that. If I'm totally doing something wrong here and somehow earning all these agents that are after me, let me know, please.
I take it you're Zion? According to the current story, the truce has broken and Zion and Machines are now at hostilities with each other, although the war has taken a backseat to the Oligarch arc. This means that Zion operatives are still restricted outside of Richland regardless of hacking access nodes (although you should still hack the nodes to prevent lvl 255 Agents chasing you and for good XP) You should find though that a swift hyperjump from the Level 100 'War' Agents is usually enough to evade them.
So welcome to the war.. sort of!
Personally I think all Agents should be 255 (Except Red Eye imposter agents and Gray/Pace etc..) and 1 or 2 three chevroned lvl 52 or so Machine Captains/security should chase you due to the war, take them out and you could get an Agent bearing down on you.. but meh I'm rambling.
But no, you're not doing anything wrong.. other than trespassing in Machine territory etc..
The 255's can be stopped by hacking the access node in the area you're in. The Agent 100's are an annoyance but only if you're Zion - it's to reflect that the Machines are after Zion operatives in the Matrix, but if you have your evade shield up you should be able to hyperjump before the Agent gets you in interlock - the hyperjump or outrunning him will make him go away. I hope that answers your question sufficiently.
Well thanks guys. Guess I just picked a bad time to start up again. Does this also explain why I see so few players playing Zion in the game, or has that been a thing for a long time now?
Org population tends to vary from server to server.
Not sure about Vector-Hostile, but there's a high number of Zion on Recursion and a high number of Machines on Syntax, and we could sure use some good Mervs on both.
Welcome back to the Matrix Zerosignal.
I happen to be with Zion, so we still exist out there.
Welcome to the War Operative....
and remember a quick HJ will clear you from the lvl 100 agent....there are plenty of zion on syntax, don't hesitate to area talk to us or send a tell. enjoy! T
Mervs can be used on every server at the moment it sounds like.
Oh I don't know, Syntax has a fair few of them especially around Mara C. I've often heard people calling Tabor W Merovingian Park West too.
I guess time of day is a factor of who you see when online.
I can't let this go by without commenting - I have had a similar experience to yours with other games' forums, where simple questions are treated with disdain by caustic people uninterested in anything but spewing garbage for their own perverse enjoyment, and I have been reluctant to post anything here because of that previous experience - but in a year of observation (guess I am really paranoid from so much abuse, took me a while to emerge) I have to say that MxO is really first class when it comes to handling this type of thing. Even people who would easily be treated as annoyances (not saying this is you) by most other communities are handled with respect and genuine concern here, and it's so unusual and fantastic it deserves noting. Virrago's efforts and the general attiude of the MxO community and its players make this forum a safe place where one need not apologize for not knowing certain information or having varying perspectives, and that is something I cannot commend enough.
I know that was kind of a tangent, but I think the nice people here will forgive me.
