Ok, besides the £10 this post cost me for resubbing, not the only reason I resubbed, I think it cost me a few bets on the 'never going to resub' or 'You'll resub before I do' line of thinking, so this is an expensive post, though the OP is probably more expensive, but hey a one month swansong can't do any harm, so what the heck.
Anyway, I was going to have Riac post this for me but I figured you'd actually prefer something legible, so without any more added attempts at humour;
Thank you for the fun times both in game and at Fan Faire, Rarebit. I'm suprised about the timing, it's disappointing to see how far downhill we've gone since Fan Faire 08 considering how well it went, but I'm not suprised at the eventual outcome and it's part of the reason I ended my subscription, and will end again. Good Luck and I'll see you in another life.

Great pics, Kybutra...we were like insects at the feet of a titan from Olympus.
Man, Rarebit.... I'm so sorry to see you go.... I am truly, eternally grateful for everything you've done for all the people in this game and anywhere else. Sometimes you don't seem appreciated until your gone... Now I see how bad this game will be without your wacky events in game or your posting I'll miss you man....

Boxers. Thanks, finally. I hope this does not shut Mave up.
I've got that nightmare feeling where I try to yell out and my mouth just won't open as I am actually faceplanted into the pillow and not breathing so well.
I'll thank you as well, for all of your good work for all of these years. The Dev team has done an excellent job, and that includes you.
Good luck on all your future endeavors. You've had a profound positive influence on this community, and you will be sorely missed.
MXO is going into it's forth year, and it definitely won't be the same without you around.
When SOE chooses a successor, I'm sure they will choose someone talented to continue this game. I have confidence in their decision.
Again, thank you and good luck. May you have good fortune in all your undertakings.

Through thick and thin, hell and high water you seemed to grit your teeth and pull through for us. Words can't describe how gratful this community is for all the hardwork and dedication you put in.
While the signs have been there for some time now, this is still shocking news... it's the sort of thing you can see coming but keep backpeddling in some hope you can outrun it.
Thank you for all of your time and effort, Rare. We certainly did not agree on everything, and this leaving business is another thing to add to the pile, but your heart was always in MxO. What you did with so little support from those pulling the strings and clutching the wallet is awe inspiring, and should act as a solid lesson to any game dev who truly loves what they do.
I can only hope that if we do get some sort of replacement that they have even half the heart that you did, Rare.
As for MxO as a whole... it will be an unguided world if not an empty one. I wish it the best, and still hope to see it through to the end, but if there ever was a nail in the coffin, this was it. (And I also do feel the sub fee should be dropped or removed altogether if there are no further updates of any kind to look forward to, but that's another topic for another time and place).
Once again, thank you, Rare, and my your footsteps lead you only to happiness.
awww...
Defnitely a bummer. as ten pages of comments in a few hours suggest, you are well loved here.
Will be interested to see the remainder of your story, as one of the people who liked it quite well all along.
Now I'm ESPECIALLY bummed that I spent two years away from this game, as it seems I will have missed a lot of the best part. But thank you SO MUCH for making the last year an awesome game experience. I never did make as many LE's as I would have wished, but the ones I did made me feel like I had a role in the continuing Matrix Story.
Good luck for all the future!
And now, a special message from the Generalista, NightTrace. Presented for your enjoyment in Communist Red:
Well we knew this would happen eventually. To many things pointed toward this happening, lets be honest. And as you said yourself Rarebit, sometimes we drove each other crazy. I'm sure having a guy consistently pointing out the flaws in your work was maddening, just the same as I found it maddening to watch things turn out the way they did with LESIG etc.But the intent was honestly in the right place, I still think it was the case. It wasn't your fault that people were never trustworthy enough to do that job.I had some amazing times in MxO. I met some of my best internet friends because of this game. The entirety of the MCDoE, The Trust, Reviled Restoration, Sentience, hell even some TC members(What? NT considers people from TC friends?)Yeah I do. Crazy I know right? But I also had some of my favorite moments in a game with MxO. I had Ookami single me out to go for my throat on the helipad in Morrel (if memory serves).I went toe to toe with Seraph, and I ended up doing more damage then the Cyphs who had gathered around him.The running joke with Agent Pace and NightTrace, to the point that even Ghost made comment of it? It always made me laugh. So, whats the point of this? You're leaving. I left a while ago.You know what the difference is? With me gone? Some people were happy about it. Sure it could be used to signify a change in opinion, roughly of a group of people who had decided they were over things. With you gone? What is there to be happy with? It signifys the end, lets be blunt. No one is going to be brought in to replace you. Everything is done now.No new content (arguably we didn't get much new content anyway, but considering you weren't even a programmer/developer originally?). No more storyline, which was what the game was based on.The people who are still here are here because this was, as I once wrote (to a reputable game magazine no less) the only place one could find a decent sample of "Post Modern Cyber-Punk".We had the guns, the abilitys, the martial arts. Hell we had the burned out sector of the city that had trash piling up.Thanks for what you did, I still stand by all the things I've said that people didn't like, but thanks for what you did.-Trace
SLASH CRY
Thank -you-, Rarebit.
Thank you for keeping this game afloat when the waters rose and the seas churned, and this red-headed-stepchild of an MMO seemed doomed to deletion. Thank you for the wonderful Live Event experiences I've had (Getting the cookie from you as the Oracle would have to be tops), and the honor of meeting you at Fan Faire. I enjoyed being the 'Token DJ' this year. Could one of your surprises be a DJ headset maybe please?
Thank you for all your hard work on MxO, trying to maintain the Live Events every day, churn out 15 crits every 6 weeks, and build us the 2 extra constructs and new quests.
This does feel like the end. It feels like I've been dumped and my cat died all at once. Some think it silly to be heartbroken at a 'game'. I do not. I will not be ending my subscription. I'll be logging in more now, so if anyone needs help just ask. The Duke is in the house, and he'll be staying here.
Rare, I wish you the very best in everything you do. Maybe one day we'll run into each other again. I'll keep an eye out for you.
"May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand."

It's not often that I'm surprised but you got me on this one Rare. You'll be missed man. Your devotion to this game and the community went far beyond what was expected. I'm gonna miss your artwork. It was kinda inspirational to me. I hope others feel that way too because now it will really be up to the community to provide a story. Good luck with your future endeavors. /salute
For once in the man's career, let's stop asking him for stuff?
I'd rather ask, Rarebit, anything we can do for you?
