I stated my opposition to giving normal players spawn tools similar to that which Rarebit wants to give to LESIG but, if the tools were tied in to a mission area opened by a ticket they couldn't be abused. You could have a ticket where there are a few Zion NPC's, or he place is empty for 10 minutes then you have Machine security rush in to fight. Perhaps if the story goes that way you could make it so that 3 lvl 70-100 Agents burst in and clean house etc... Could be done in a similar way to the sim spawn in the Org areas... having a computer which activates the sawn or something...Only downside is the maximum of 6 players...
Yeah, we deffo need some love on the RP thing. I remember creating a thread on some of this awhile ago that just died.
And I'm actually starting to think, why does there even need to be a ticket? They could just open some of the floors in buildings throuighout the game. I mean seriously, there must be at least ahundred open rooms in any given district at all times. When are there EVER a hundred missions going on in a condensed area? There are lots of cool little rooms out there as well as the REP's, like roooms full of guns, or chemistry sets, or poker tables, or little dojos. And they are all presently wasted... how many times have you run a mission where the loacation you are supposed to be is WAY off from the room the system chooses ? (i.e. you are supposed to be going to a warehouse and end up in a residence, you are supposed to be going to a bluepill residence and get a room full of weapons, etc.)
Anyway, yeah, considering how small the staff is on this game, you'd think we could get a break when it comes to making our own RP's. I don't expect a Live Event every ten minutes, but it would be nice if you could run RP's without them being totally lamed by the games limitations.
The simplest solution, imo, is to just take advantage of some of the already accessible areas and add the REP objects to them. This could be utilized for many things, not just the REP.
Adding the trademark red chairs to a large room could create a setting like the room where Neo first met Morpheus. Adding mainframes and PC props could make for an org base (like we've seen in recent live events). The list goes on.
Reallistically, open areas are never used, aside from events. Nobody goes there unless for a specific reason. Why not give players a reason to venture there?
Doesn't the changing of Mega City require that map to be re-packaged? Thats why the invisable walls havent been fixed or anything.
They could make a small room with one in and it would work like the Commando White Hallway doors, you walk through a door and it can telelport you to the area without going through the White Hallways, that way the area wont be instanced either and there is no need to change the world as it is now.
