In-Game Advertising

I agree that CoH/CoV does a great job of managing the gaming experience, and the graphics run much better. I suspect MxO is limited by its own continuity: the world is supposed to be grays and greens. I'm glad you can turn off the green filter, and even add a colorful over-bright one, but I also agree the game does tax the graphics hardware more than CoH/CoV.

That said, some of the grabs I've done have surprised me in how drop-dead gorgeous they are.

It is kind of surprising that there have been no Matrix follow-ups, like the animation series you're suggesting: there are not only a lot of web animators who would love to do it, but I'm sure Cartoon Network would love to pick it up. Unfortunately, that is probably not for SOE to do: that stuff belongs solely to WB (who probably could give less of a crap about MxO now that they've washed their hands of it). The Animatrix was an excellent example of how cool it could be; there are millions of story ideas out there, and they can be expressed in a lot of different ways and animation styles.

By the way, without branching into a technical issues forum: has anyone noticed an oddity about the existing advertising? I have my draw distance set to full, and I'll see signs and billboards that show an ad (for real or bogus companies)...that then disappears at a certain middle distance as I get closer. The texture being mapped is replaced by the usual "This Space for Rent" letters, and doesn't show up again unless I move away from the source.

Not wanting to hijack the original purpose for this thread, but, I will anyway! SMILEY

I would love to see advertizing in-game available to factions. It would be awesome to see some of the amazing artwork that player's have produced appearing on billboards around the city. To a certain extent, I'd even be willing to add some $'s to my SOE subscription to cover the cost. (Yeah, I would also pay real-world $'s for an in-game apartment where I could reliably dump my loot too!)

Another fabulous use of the billboards would be to display sports scores, well no, not sports per-se. I'm thinking the CQ point rankings of individual players and aggregate CQ point ranking of factions, with a photo/logo attached would be great.

Using the billboard to advertize live-events would be good. Or, how about in the aftermath of the blue-sky event when there were music videos playing? Would the big record companies pay to give us streaming MTV / VH1 style video on some screens?

I'd tell you the site name, but that'd be free advertising. If you like sports and oversized removable wall graphics...you know the company name. SMILEY

I don't mind the banners and whatever else they want to put in, BUT if theres gonna be

an ad for McD's then where the hell is a McD's in MxO. Add one and I can RP

buying a big mac.

I don't even mind the talking billboards but PLEASE!!! stop the repeating PLEASE!!!!

its no fair we Canadians don't get to see those talking billboard signs, only a couple of those jeep ads the rest is "Ad Space for Rent"

How about this record a clip of anything for 15sec. then play it on repeat while you sit, stand, or do anything near a HL.

Oh, and you must do it at nearly every HL that people hangout at.

To be honest, Mcdonalds Mcchicken, which is only a dollar, tastes alot better to me than their value Chicken meal... which is sad, cuz I love mcDonalds and I love their valuemeals.. now I want chicken... grrr >_<
