Since getting my most recent MacBook Pro a month or so ago, I've noticed certain audio bits in-game are distorted on this new machine. Most noticeably, jumping/hyperjumping sounds choppy, the audio of cars driving by is extremely distorted, and the running fx sounds metallic. Try turning off the enhanced audio option in the audio options in-game.
Does it sound like the sounds are coming from a tin can, or do they sound a bit squelchy like a corrupted mp3?
Yea I had gone through those in-game options one-by-one methodically to see if one might be the option; no dice. Really the best description I can come up with is metallic/distorted. For example, on the "car driving by" sound, it turns into this long whoooooooosh kind of a noise. Running, on the other hand, does sound like a super crumbly mp3. More crackly/tinny than anything else.

It sounds like something is constantly polling your audio hardware or stalling the drivers. Can you post your full MSINFO (or email it to phi[AT]aliciaandnick.com ) and I'll take a look
