going to karate....[keep in mind that i want the "best" or most
powerful ability out there for martial arts] so i was wondering.... is
it wise to mix kung-fu and karate?? or just stay with 1 until i get to
a higher level and then start on the other 1  [[im level 10]]

Are you going to be using your mixed build for duels? If not then I would suggest getting some abilities in the hacker tree for VD and using some DR clothes. During missions mobs love to free fire and some of them do tend to hack with nasty hacks. If you are not setup properly to defend you will die on a constant basis.

The only real reason to mix the two MA trees would be for a duel against another MA. Otherwise you could get stunned, rooted, and pretty well messed up when the fighting starts. Also get some Force Combat buff clothes so you can break Evade Combat shields with one hit.

What MOD_D says is correct, though I dont know how he could know that...mods cant play the game now can they?

Anyways, depending on how far you actualy go down the kung fu and
karate trees, and what stats/buff items you have it may or may not be
wise.  You can load full VD at level 50 and still have room to mix
both trees, and you can run duels/pvp/missions with it.

Thats what I thought.:smileyindifferent:

Anyways...what TC said, at 50 your options open to many creative loadouts.

I would get as strong as you can get on one tree, then branch out at the higher lvls.

hey i know this is off topic....but u know how u asked mod_d how he
knows about this since he is not in the matrix? well i came across
something quite similar when i was searching for answers in some
forums...i happened to come across a forum a week ago or so saying
that  some1 [forget his name] was making a conpitition and who
ever won it would get like 1 million $info. but it was really funny AND
stupid because in the same paragraph he said that his file/character
wasnt working and he wasnt able to get on the matrix anymore..... who
in the right mind would say he would give info to some1 for doing
it...BUT WHO WOULD ACCEPT OVIOUSLY SEEING THAT THE GUY IS LIEING AND
CANT GIVE HIM $INFO SINCE HIS FILE DOESNT WORK ANYMORE...IDIOTS!

its not wise to mix pills with whiskey, either. ^^^^^^^

only for duel should you mix kung fu and karate.. the rest of your
avaliable memory should be used for a secondary skill. pick the style
you like the best and make that primary. then add VD. this is the best
thing for missions and PvP.

for duels, mix it all! thats what the duel is about... searching for the perfect loadout.

If you're level 10, I'd suggest starting off with Kung Fu. As soon as you can pick up Misdirect Punch (at lvl 20, I think), you'll win most of your one-on-one fights against NPCs. You can always pick up Karate later.
I personally use a mixture of Karate and Kung Fu for my PVP and missioning builds, but when I was at your level, it was all Kung Fu.

And just because Mod_D is a Mod now doesn't mean he wasn't once a player...

Where was it stated that mods can't
play? I just remember one of them saying that they didn't have an
in-game character yet but that they were planning on making one.

Yeah I suggest just playing with builds, it's fun. Personally I think Aikido mixes well with others.

Hmmm, I thought I read somewhere that the mods were not/never players because that would a a conflict of interest. But no one really believed that...

Yeah, mixing the Enraging abilities of Aikido with Sidekick combo of Karate and misdirect punch of Kung Fu makes for an effective build especially against hackers (of course, you need high VD or your screwed).

Also, loading Assassin up until Suplex then loading Karate GM until Ki Charged Foot Sweep works great as well, since suplex gives dazed staggered and off-balance.

Viral Deflection. It's basically like Combat Tactics for blocking Hackers virus's.

Aka: If your VD is higher than their Viral Transmission (VT) than the virus is "Blocked" by you, and you take no damage or states from the intended virus.

According to Walrus Forum Mods are not in-game. Or at least they aren't supposed to be in theory according to the last thing I read about it. This is supposed to cut down on favouritism. I do find it odd that a forum mod would have such intimate knowledge of combat though ...
