I know it was explained when the game first came out...  but I forgot and can't seem to find it anywhere.

How much time passed between the end of Matrix Revolutions and the beginning of the Matrix Online?

Part of me wants to say six months, another part of me wants to say two years.  I really can't remember.

I had a quick flick through the manual but I couldn't find any reference to the amount of time passing between the two. Personally I always thought it was a very short time, a couple of weeks to a month, if not immediately.

I'm probably wrong though so I'd say that out of your two figures I'd say 6 months was the most realistic.

As far as I know, there's no reference to the amount of time that passed between Revolutions and the beginning of MxO.  Some have said that MxO starts immediately after the movies, but I doubt that.  I'm sure Zion would have a party first for some undetermined amount of time, then they'd have to find a way to get up to the dock since Lock blew up the elevator shaft (assuming they already didn't have some alternate route to get there).  And I'm sure putting out the huge flames in the dock would have some kind of priority, since the dock wouldn't be safe with them burning.

Then there's the development of the emergency jackout system, the Hacker and Coder abilities, the Marketplace, and the hoverbarges, which I doubt happened overnight.

The old article about the Novalis II crew mentions some things that happened between Revolutions and MxO, if you're curious.  And I seem to recall a Sentinel issue that described some of the events that happened in one of the movies as occurring years ago.

mmm.. nifty nugget from the past O.

And yeah, I've always kinda assumed that it took some months for Zon to get back on its feet after Revolutions. I think the Critical mission scripts kind of implied that the Truce had recently begun, but yeah, I've never seen any precise time figure.

Perhaps the Truce which was referred to was alluding more to the contract, the actual piece of paper which outlined the formal agreement between the Architect and the Zion Council rather than the cessation of hostilities which we observed at the end of Revolutions.

... which would allow also for years to have passed, giving time for the development of the EJP, Redpill Marketplace etc etc

Then again, with the Matrix apparently always being in 1999, and some bluepills being recorded as experience the same events over and over again; it could quite literally be almost anything.

Good points, especially the party bit, that made me laugh!

Well, I'm sure Tank was right about Zion having a party when the war ended.

on the box when u open the little cover thing it says the game picks up right after the ending of the 3rd movie and i wouldnt really take the marketplace as anything to do with the storyline since its only there for MMO purposes

hmm.. I once started an entire thread, cant remember which area, about how there was never any official Truce on paper. At least, I challenged anyone to demonstrate where or when in the story we actually got such a piece of paper, and what the details of the agreement were. Other than what people thgt they had heard, I never did find any "officical" version of the Truce. If you know of one, I would love to here where it is, but to this day I maintian that there never WAS a Truce, only an informal cease-fire with no agreed upon terms. IOW, its a plot gap, and an annoying one to me.

I was under the impression that MxO started directly or very shortly after the truce.

To keep with "time frame" subject, I wonder how long the story of MxO has been running. A day-night cycle ingame is roughly somewhere around 30minutes or something right? So if one were to do the EXACT math, then how long do you think the game's story has been running? Maybe 10 years?

Well, there's that event with Rose that utilizied the Marketplace (Malphas even mentions it in his post).  It may have been mentioned by live event characters elsewhere at one point or another, but I could be wrong.  Plus, there's an old MxO article where a dev said it was one of the post-Revolutions developments, but I can't seem to find it. -_-

And honestly, I don't see why it shouldn't exist in the Matrix universe.

I seem to recall an old trailer, the old website, or something that said the game picks up 6 months after the end of Revolutions.  I can't seem to find anything to verify it, though.

I'll keep looking.

Edit:  Oh wait.  I could be confusing the fact that Reloaded started 6 months after the first Matrix.  I don't know though, I still feel like I've heard 6 months from somewhere...

I vaguely remember six months as the time, as well. Can't be a coincidence.

Old thread/subject I know, but I saw this today and thought of this thread.

This is the only time I've personally seen any reference to a timescale, it doesn't say exactly but it infers that the time between the end of Revolutions and the beginning of MxO storywise is quite short.

Obviously Zion had to have time to start making repairs but I'm sure they would have started back in the Matrix during the repairs rather than after they were completed.

And pulled a bunch of technological developments and hoverbarges from where?  A box that said "Do Not Open Until The War Is Over"? O_o
